Line an 8x8-inch (20 x 20-cm) baking dish with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese, chicken, hot sauce, cheeses, and ranch dressing mix with a fork until smooth and evenly mixed. Transfer to the prepared baking dish and smooth it with a spatula so that it’s spread evenly in the dish. Freeze until solid, at least 1 hour.

Working quickly, remove the solid mixture from the sheet and cut into 4x1-inch (10x3-cm) rectangles. (There should be 16 total.)

Bread each stick by coating in flour, then dredging in egg, and then dipping in bread crumbs. Dip once more in the egg, then once more in the bread crumbs, and transfer to a baking dish.

Heat the oil in a large pot until it reaches 375˚F (190˚C).

Carefully lower 3 or 4 of the coated sticks into the oil and fry for about 30 seconds, until golden brown. Continue this until all of the sticks are fried.

Stir egg and water together and brush each wonton wrapper with the egg wash and place a piece of mozzarella in each wonton, diagonally in one corner.

Tightly roll the stick of cheese in the wonton wrapper, tucking the sides in about halfway through the rolling, before completing and sealing.

Place wrapped mozzarella stick onto a parchment lined baking sheet, seam side down.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all the wontons and mozzarella sticks have been used.

Place mozzarella stick in the freezer for at least an hour.

Pour about 2 inches oil into a tall pot and preheat stovetop to 350˚F.

Remove mozzarella sticks from freezer and fry in small batches, for about 3 to 4 minutes or until the wontons turn golden brown and the cheese has melted through.

Drain onto a paper towel and lightly season with salt.

Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce.

Lots of factors influence outcome of how the mozzarella sticks cook. They all vary in size and sometimes the coating, etc. so you’ll have to adjust timing as needed.Cook in just a single layer. If needed cook in multiple batches.All air fryers are different and some cook much hotter than others. Place the frozen mozzarella sticks in the air fryer basket and spread out evenly in a single layer. No oil spray is needed.

Air Fry at 380°F/193°C for 5 minutes. Gently shake or turn. Continue to Air Fry at 380°F/193°C for another 1-2 minutes or until the cheese nearly starts to ooze out.

Make sure to let them cool a little before eating. The cheese can be super hot.

Freeze Cheese: Unwrap mozzarella sticks (or cut into sticks if starting from a block of cheese). Set on a parchment-lined plate and place in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Prep: Meanwhile, set up your breading station. Place flour in a ziploc baggie. Whisk egg in a shallow bowl. Combine panko and seasonings in a separate shallow bowl.

Bread Once: Toss mozzarella sticks into the bag with the flour, zip it shut, and shake to evenly coat the cheese. Working one at a time, roll the mozzarella sticks in the egg, then in the panko. Return to the plate and freeze for 30 more minutes.

Bread Twice: Lightly grease your air fryer basket or rack, and preheat to 390°F (200°C). Coat the mozzarella sticks in egg then panko one more time, then transfer to the air fryer.

Cook: Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, until crispy and golden brown. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, like marinara or ranch.

eggroll wrappers (7 inch)

Mozzarella Sticks (string cheese)

Preheat oven to 350F.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Lay an eggroll wrap down in a diamond shape and place a slice of ham in the middle. Place one mozzarella stick in the middle of the ham. Fold in the sides of the wrapper into the cheese and then roll up the entire wrapper to create eggroll shape. Place on baking sheet seam side down.

Brush each stick lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic salt to taste.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until browned to your liking (you might want to check them with a couple minutes left as all ovens are different). Remove from the oven and turn the sticks. Place back in the oven for 4-5 more minutes or until browned.

Serve with dipping sauce of your choice.

You can make your own Mozzarella Sticks appetizer at home! My kids love to dip them in pasta sauce and Ranch dressing.

Homemade Mozzarella Sticks

mozzarella cheese cheese

eggs (well beaten (with about 2 Tbsp water))

flour

cornstarch

Mix flour and cornstarch in a medium-sized bowl. Mix bread crumbs and garlic salt in a separate bowl. 

Dip each stick in egg, then roll in flour. Dip in egg again then roll in bread crumbs. Place on wax paper and chill for about an hour.&nbsp;

In a large pan or skillet, heat oil to about 375 degrees (you can also use a deep fryer). Fry chilled cheese sticks in oil until they turn a nice golden brown color.&nbsp;

Serve

Drain on paper towels. Serve with pizza sauce or ranch dressing.

You can make your own Mozzarella Sticks at home with this easy recipe! Try dipping them in marinara sauce or ranch dressing.

Hot and crispy homemade mozzarella sticks! This recipe makes a big batch of cheese sticks that can be frozen and fried in small batches whenever you get a craving. The mozzarella sticks are crispy on the outside with melted oozing cheese on the inside. They're a must make for football season.
You will need a thermometer that hooks on the side of the pan for this recipe, which I discuss in the post along with lots of other tips and tricks, so be sure to check it out!

First, slice across the block of cheese so you have eleven 1/2&#8243;-inch thick slices. Cut each slice into thirds so you end up with 33 cheese sticks. See the photos and notes in the post for more tips on slicing the cheese.

In a shallow bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, cheese, and garlic powder. In a seperate shallow bowl, beat the eggs with a fork until uniform in color. Using one hand for the eggs and the other hand for the breadcrumbs, dip a cheesestick in the eggs to coat it. Transfer it to the breadcrumbs and coat it evenly. Dip it again in the egg, coating it evenly, and then coat it again in the breadcrumbs. Place the breaded cheese stick on a sheet pan. Repeat with the rest of the cheese sticks. See the recipe notes section for more tips about the breading step.

Place the sheet pan in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes. This will allow the breading to firm up. While you wait, you can get the oil ready for frying.

I used a 3-quart pan to fry my mozzarella sticks (see note). Add enough oil to the pan so that the mozzarella sticks will be fully covered as they fry (about 24 ounces of oil). You can fry two to three sticks at a time with this set-up. If you want to fry more at a time you will need to use a bigger pan and more oil.

The ideal temperature to deep fry is between 350°F to 375°F. Use a thermometer to measure the temperature as it will fluctuate as you fry the sticks. Fry the mozzarella stick for 30 seconds to a minute or until the breading is golden brown and crispy. Transfer the sticks to a plate lined with a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.

Serve the mozzarella sticks with dipping sauce on the side.  

These are PERFECT! So nice and crispy! Much better when they're homemade. Definitely a keeper.

Great taste.  But fry times are different depending on how long the cheese sticks are left in the freezer.  Mine were in the freezer for 24 hours and frozen hard.  Initially  fried one for a minute as a test.  Cheese was frozen.  Tried another and fried another one for two minutes.  It was better, but the cheese in the middle of stick was still frozen.   Fried the last ones for three minutes and that worked for my batch.

Cut the mozzarella cheese into approximately 20 x ½ inch thick sticks. In a small bowl, whisk your eggs.

Add your Panko breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to a Ziploc bag, seal the bag and use a rolling pin to crush the crumbs into fine crumbs. Once crushed give the bag a shake to combine and then transfer it to a mixing bowl.

Now, take a stick of mozzarella and dip it into the whisked egg, let the excess egg drip off before placing it in the breadcrumb mixture and turning it so the whole stick is evenly coated with crumbs. Place the stick on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and repeat the process until all the sticks are covered. Place the prepared mozzarella sticks in your freezer for a minimum of 90 minutes.

Preheat your air fryer to 390°F/ 200°C. Place your mozzarella sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket lined with air fryer parchment paper, being careful not to overcrowd them, and spray generously with oil, then cook until they are golden brown, approximately 6 - 8 minutes. Using tongs, remove the cooked sticks from the air fryer and place them on a serving plate. Repeat in batches until all the sticks have been cooked. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
