Here's how to make a mudslide: the real way! This mudslide recipe makes the classic drink starring vodka, Kahlua and Irish cream.

Classic Mudslide

ounce* vodka

coffee liqueur (like Kahlua)

Irish cream (like Baileys)

heavy cream

For the garnish: Shaved chocolate (optional), chocolate sauce

If desired, spread the chocolate sauce on a plate and carefully dip in the cocktail glass rim. Place the vodka, coffee liqueur, Irish cream, and heavy cream in a cocktail shaker. Add 2 handfuls of ice and shake until cold. Strain the drink into a cocktail glass. Garnish with shaved chocolate if desired. 

Frozen Mudslide

Place the vodka, coffee liqueur, Irish cream, vanilla ice cream and ice in a blender. Blend until smooth and pour into a tall glass. 

Can you use Rumchata in a mudslide in place of any or all other alcohol?

I'd replace the vodka with the Rumchata.  Vodka and I do not get along well. I would also do the ice cream version and make it with chocolate ice cream and maybe sneak in some chocolate liquor, maybe just a splash. Irish cream has flavor components that're hard to replace.

Irish Cream

coffee liqueur

vodka

chocolate syrup (, divided, optional)

whipped cream

cocoa powder

Pour the heavy cream, Irish cream, coffee liqueur, and vodka in a mixing glass with a spout; stir to combine.

Drizzle the chocolate syrup along the inside of two old-fashioned glasses.

Add ice to each glass.

Pour the cocktail mixture over the ice. Garnish with whipped cream and cocoa powder, if desired.

The frozen mudslide drink is the perfect marriage of Baileys Irish Cream and Kahlua with sweet and creamy ice cream!

Put all ingredients into a blender and blend on medium speed until smooth.

Prepare glasses by drizzling chocolate syrup along their interior surfaces (optional).

Pour frozen mudslide cocktail into glasses.

Optionally garnish with chocolate shavings, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and chocolate pieces (or anything else you want to use).

Drink immediately.
