These Oat Flour Cookies are naturally gluten-free and taste just as delicious as the kind made with white flour! No one will be able to tell they&#039;re made with whole grain oat flour.

Oat Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies

butter

coconut sugar ((125 grams))

egg ((50 grams))

vanilla extract ((5 grams))

oat flour ((225 grams; certified gluten-free, if needed))

baking soda ((3 grams))

Preheat the oven to 350ºF. In a large bowl, mix together the softened butter and coconut sugar until they look relatively creamy.

Add in the egg and vanilla and mix again. Then add in the dry ingredients, including the oat flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well, until the batter looks thick and uniform. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Use a 1-ounce cookie scoop, or heaping tablespoon, to scoop the dough and drop it onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Arrange the mounds of dough about 2 inches apart from each other, to allow for spreading as they bake. Bake at 350ºF for 8 to 11 minutes, depending on how crispy you like your cookies. (I remove mine at 8 or 9 minutes, for soft and gooey centers.)

Let the cookies cool completely on the pan, as they will be fragile when warm. These cookies taste best when they are fresh from the oven, but they will also keep well at room temperature for up to 48 hours in an airtight container. I recommend storing them in the fridge for a longer shelf life, though! They will keep well in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Oat flour tends to dry out over time, so keep them tightly sealed to prevent that.

Oat Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies | chewy, gluten-free cookies

These oat flour cookies are soft, chewy and gooey cookies filled with melty chocolate chips. They’re just like the classic chocolate chip cookie that are also nut free and gluten free.  These oat flour chocolate chip cookies are easy to make, have a quick chill time and are so incredibly delicious.

Oat Flour Cookies Recipe

(270 g) oat flour

cornstarch

½ tsp baking soda

salt

½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened

(150 g) light brown sugar

(50 g) granulated sugar

tsp (10 ml) vanilla extract

(170 g) semi sweet chocolate chips

Whisk

In a large bowl, whisk the oat flour, baking soda, cornstarch and salt together until well combined. 

Beat

In a stand mixer with paddle attachment or with an electric mixer, beat the butter, light brown sugar and granulated sugar until well combined, about 3 minutes on medium speed. 

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined. 

Mix the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips. Cover and chill the dough in the fridge for 30-60 minutes.

Scoop

Preheat the oven to 375 F (190 C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.Scoop about 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of oat flour chocolate chip cookie dough onto the lined baking sheets. I like to use a medium cookie scoop to get perfectly portioned cookies. Place 5-6 balls of oat cookie dough on the baking sheet about 3 inches apart. Top with more chocolate chips if you like.

Bake

Bake the cookies for 8-9 minutes. The edges will be set and lightly golden brown. The centers will look slightly puffed.

Cool

Remove the cookies from the oven onto a cooling rack or stove top. Firmly bang the pan onto the cooling rack (or stove top). This helps to deflate the cookies quickly. Top with flaky salt if you like. After 3 minutes, transfer the cookies off the hot baking sheet and onto the cooling rack to cool to room temperature and enjoy!
