One Hour Dinner Rolls are made with this easy yeast rolls recipe. Buttery, soft, fluffy dinner rolls are undeniably delicious &amp; literally, take just 60 minutes to make! My favorite roll recipe ever! The perfect recipe for holidays &amp; gatherings.

One Hour Dinner Rolls

water

yeast (I used rapid yeast)

sugar

butter (softened)

salt

all-purpose flour (more or less as needed (I used 3-3/4))

butter

sea salt flakes (for sprinkling on top)

Using your mixer bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water and let stand for five minutes, or until foamy. (if your bowl is chilled or your room is cool this could take longer)

Add butter, salt &amp; 3 cups of the flour, and mix until combined.

Add additional flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and is slightly sticky to the touch. (do not add too much flour!)

Let the mixer knead 3-5 minutes, until smooth.

Cover with plastic, place in a warm spot and let rise 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees &amp; spray a 9 x 13 casserole dish with cooking spray.

Punch down the dough &amp; divide it into 20 equal-sized pieces.

Roll each piece into a ball and space evenly in the prepared pan.

Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with sea salt and let rise for an additional 15-20 minutes.

Bake 13-15 minutes, or until golden brown. ( you can turn on the broiler for about 1-2 minutes at the end to get a more golden top)

Remove and brush with butter.

Let cool slightly before serving.

This delicious yeasty French bread recipe has only one 20-minute rise before going into a screaming hot oven for another 20 minutes. At the end you have golden crusty goodness! One hour, I promise!!

One Hour French Bread Recipe

white sugar

dry yeast*

all purpose flour (spooned and leveled)

egg white (optional (for brushing))

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Do it now so that your oven is nice and hot when you put the bread in.

In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine warm water, sugar, yeast, and salt. You want the water to be like a nice warm bath water. Feel it with your wrist.

Set your bowl on the preheating oven and wait a couple minutes. If you see bubbles from the yeast reacting, move forward. If not, you may have killed your yeast with too hot water. Dump it and start over!

Add the softened butter and 1 cup of flour, and stir together with a wooden spoon.

Use the dough hook (or continue with the wooden spoon) to stir in the rest of the flour. Start with 3 cups total in the recipe (including the cup you added in step 4). Then add the last cup 1/4 cup at a time to see how much you need. The dough should be pulling away from the sides of the bowl but still sticky. (see photos) I usually add most of the fourth cup.

Knead for 6-7 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Prepare a baking sheet or baguette pan**  with nonstick spray.

At this point you can either shape the dough into one large loaf that is about 12-14 inches, or you can make 2 smaller loaves. (I made two smaller loaves to fit in my baguette pan.)

Use a sharp serrated knife to make 3-4 half-inch slits on top.

Cover with a tea towel and let rise for 20 minutes.

When the loaf or loaves have roughly doubled in size, remove the towel.

In a small bowl, use a fork to whisk up 1 egg white. Make it nice and frothy. Use a pastry brush to coat the tops and sides of the bread. You can use all or most of the egg white.

Transfer the bread to the oven.

Bake for about 20 minutes. You will know it is done when the top is shiny and golden, and the bottom of the loaf is browned. The longer you leave it in, the crispier your crust will be.

Let cool for a bit and then devour hot with butter!

I’ve never been successful in making French bread, but this recipe is amazing!
No extra steps and fussy stuff to do. I like that!

Because I’m diabetic, I eat whole wheat bread instead of white, but I didn’t want to make this 100% whole wheat as I figured it would probably ruin the recipe and make a heavy loaf.

I made it with 2 cups white flour and 1 1/2 cups ww flour (I didn’t need the whole 4 cups).

It turned out beautifully!

I had make it into 2 loaves only because I didn’t have a pan big enough for the whole batch to fit onto in one loaf. I’m very satisfied with it and will most definitely make this again.

Thanks for sharing I was never successful when making bread and problems with using yeast. This made me feel good about myself success. My family loves it too made the olive oil balsamic. Vinegar dip it made it more delicious. I will definitely make it again.So hard to stop counting carbs I am diabetic I had to just walk away.

Making this bread this week! It looks absolutely delicious. Laughed at your open drawers &amp; kitchen cabinets, because I do that ALL the time and have been for over 30 yrs. I've left the kitchen momentarily while preparing something, only to come back and see how it looks with everything open and askew😬, Haha. It doesn't look that way to you while your in the throes of cooking and baking though. My husband gave up long ago on reminding me to close drawers &amp; cabinets. They eventually get closed when all the bustling activity stops.🙂
