This cheesy, flavorful Chicken Cordon Bleu skillet is an absolute crowd-pleaser. It's ready in under and hour and will give you plenty of tasty leftovers. Yum!

Chicken Cordon Bleu Skillet

penne pasta

Tbsp butter

garlic (minced)

Tbsp flour

chicken broth

heavy cream

Kosher salt

black pepper

mustard powder

chicken

Swiss cheese

Parmesan cheese

Tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)

Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain the cooked pasta and set aside.

Melt the butter in a Dutch/French oven over medium heat. Add the garlic to the pan and cook for about 2 minutes, until fragrant.

Sprinkle the flour into the skillet and cook for 2 more minutes, until the mixture is golden brown. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, and bring the mixture to a boil.

Season with salt and pepper to taste, and add the mustard powder. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until slightly thickened, about 10-12 minutes.

Remove the pot from heat and stir in the cooked pasta, chicken, ham, and Swiss cheese. Sprinkle Parmesan over the top.

Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 13-15 minutes. Broil for an extra 2-3 minutes for a golden-brown finish. Garnish with parsley, and serve.

¾ cups hot water, plus more if needed

⅙ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more to serve

oz (220 grams) penne pasta,

basil leaves, shredded

(4 ounces 120 grams) ricotta cheese

⅓ cup (30 grams) grated parmesan, plus more to serve

chili flakes, to serve

In a large pot or Dutch oven, warm the olive oil then add garlic, paprika and oregano. Saute&#39; for about 45 seconds until fragrant.

Add the tomatoes, hot water, salt, pepper, the pasta, give a good stir and bring to the boil.

Reduce the heat to medium, cover with a lid and cook until al dente (start checking the doneness according to the cooking time stated on the package, although it might take a bit longer with this method).

Stir every 3-4 minutes and keep an eye on the amount of liquid. It might look a lot at first, but magically the pasta will absorb it by the end of the cooking time. But if at some point you think it needs more, just add a little bit of hot water.

When the pasta is still al dente add the shredded basil leaves and give a good stir.

Then finish with ricotta and parmesan cheese, stir to combine and serve immediately with extra parmesan cheese if you wish, and a good pinch of chili flakes. Enjoy!
