Instant Pot Goulash with ground beef or turkey, diced tomatoes, pasta, and melty cheese is a 30 minute one pot meal entire family will love. This is American goulash or American Chop Suey that is perfect for busy weeknights!

Instant Pot Goulash {30 Minute One Pot Meal}

ground turkey or beef

onion

garlic

tbsp rosemary (dried)

garlic powder

onion powder

tsp smoked paprika

paprika

salt

black pepper (to taste)

bay leaves

soy sauce (I use Bragg's liquid aminos)

any stock/broth (low sodium)

13 oz elbow macaroni (I use whole wheat)

28 oz can diced tomatoes (low sodium)

tomato sauce (low sodium)

cheddar or marble cheese (shredded)

Press Saute on 6 or 8 quart Instant Pot and wait until display says Hot. Takes about 4-5 mins.

Add ground meat and cook until small pieces, breaking with spatula constantly. Instant Pot doesn&#039;t really brown the meat and it doesn&#039;t have to be cooked through. Press Cancel.

Add onion, garlic, rosemary, garlic and onion powders, smoked and regular paprika, salt, pepper, bay leaves, soy sauce, stock, pasta, diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. Do not stir.

Close the lid, set valve to Sealing and press Pressure Cook on High or Manual for 4 minutes.

After, release pressure using Quick Release by turning valve to Venting right away after cooking.

Open the lid, add cheese and stir well.

Serve warm.

Instant Pot Goulash

(454 grams) elbow macaroni

beef

(796 grams) crushed tomatoes

(200 grams) medium onion (, diced)

(18 grams) garlic cloves (, minced)

olive oil

stock

tomato paste

Salt and Black pepper

(113 grams) green bell pepper (, diced)

(1.8 grams) dried basil

oregano

(30 milliliters) regular soy sauce

(15 milliliters) fish sauce ((can substitute with soy sauce))

(15 milliliters) Worcestershire sauce

Parsley (, finely sliced)

Brown Ground Beef in Instant Pot: Press “Saute” button to “Sauté More” function to heat up Instant Pot. Wait until the indicator says “HOT” (~8mins). Season the ground beef generously with kosher salt and ground black pepper. Add 1 tbsp (15ml) olive oil in Instant Pot, and make sure the oil is coated over the whole bottom of the pot. Add in ground beef. After 5 minutes of browning, remove the ground beef juice. *Pro Tip: The ground beef juice is fatty, but it contains a lot of flavor. It&#039;s up to you to discard or reserve it for later. Continue to brown the ground beef, and stir occasionally until they are slightly crisped and browned (~5 – 7 mins). Taste and adjust the seasoning with more kosher salt and ground black pepper.

Sauté Onion and Green Pepper: If your ground beef is very lean, you may need to add in 1 extra tbsp oil at this point. Add diced onions &amp; green pepper in Instant Pot, then saute for 3 minutes.

Sauté Garlic and Spices: Add in 1.5 tsp (1.8g) dried basil, 1.5 tsp (1.2g) dried oregano, minced garlic cloves, and 3 tbsp (45g) tomato paste, then saute for another minute.

Deglaze Instant Pot: Pour ½ cup (125ml) unsalted chicken stock in Instant Pot, then deglaze by scrubbing all the flavorful brown bits off the bottom of the pot. *Pro Tip: Make sure to deglaze really well for this goulash recipe!

Pressure Cook Goulash: Add in 1 tbsp (15ml) fish sauce, 2 tbsp (30ml) regular soy sauce, 1 tbsp (15ml) Worcestershire sauce, and the previously reserved beef juice (optional). Give it a quick mix. Add in 1lb (454g) elbow macaroni or ditali. Pour in 1½ cup (375ml) unsalted chicken stock and 2 cups (500ml) cold water. *Pro Tip: Make sure all the pasta are fully submerged in the liquid. Pour in 1 can of crushed tomatoes with all the juice on top. Do not mix! With Venting Knob in Venting Position, close the lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing Position. Pressure cook at High Pressure for 4 minutes + Gradual Quick Release. When the floating valve drops, turn the Venting Knob to the Venting position. Open the lid carefully.*Pro Tip - Gradual Quick Release: Use a wooden spoon to turn the venting knob just a bit so the steam starts to come out gently. This pressure release method prevents splatter, and it&#039;ll take longer than a normal Quick Release.

Stir and Season: It will look a bit too saucy at first, that’s normal! Once you start stirring, it&#039;ll all come together nicely &amp; tasty. Taste and season with more salt if necessary (for reference: we added roughly 1 – 2 pinches of salt to season the dish properly).

Serve Goulash: If you have some parsley on hand, finely slice them, then garnish the Goulash. Serve &amp; enjoy~

Instant Pot Goulash - Kid-Friendly, Pantry Ingredients | @Amy & Jacky

This easy Hungarian style goulash recipe is delicious and satisfying.

Instant Pot Goulash (Hungarian)

oil (or calorie-controlled cooking spray)

bell pepper

caraway seed

Hungarian paprika

(500 milliliters) beef stock

tomatoes

red wine

flour

salt (to taste)

parsley (for garnish)

Select sauté, heat half the oil in Instant Pot insert and quickly brown the beef in batches, remove from insert and set aside.

Add remaining oil and sauté the onion and peppers until soft (about 5 minutes), switch off and quickly stir in the garlic, followed by the caraway seed and paprika.

Add the beef stock and thoroughly deglaze the pot.

Add in the rest of the ingredients, cover the pot, seal, select the stew setting and set the time to 25 minutes.

Allow for an NPR of 10 mins and then perform a QPR.

I love making this for company. I ran out of Hungarian paprika and now use regular paprika.

OK, I am NOT a cook.  My wife of 56 years is a GREAT cook.  Me, not so much.  We have recently started the gluten free routine and were, until now, having difficulty finding GOOD and EASY recipes that didn't have us traipsing all over the county searching for exotic ingredients.

BINGO.  This is a wonderful recipe.  I made it myself in the Instant Pot, and WOW.  This is really good..   Thanks you so much for making this old couple really happy at suppertime.  We steamed some cauliflower and broccoli and topped them off with this goulash...  Man, what a meal....

Love this recipe, easy to adapt to whatever ingredients you have on had. I make it with lamb and throw in extra veggies and potatoes. Perfect!

Cooking time is way off. 5 minute prep and 30 minutes cooking? No way. Just add up the cooking time and it is close to an hour.  Recipe is missing dumplings or pasta which are used in Hungary. Doesn't have the potatoes, carrots and celery that Hungarian goulash has. Still tasty but I won't use this recipe again.

The perfect fall recipe! This was so easy to make and my kids went crazy for it. Will definitely make again!

Oh my, I've not had goulash for years and just had to check this recipe out, it's brought back memories of my childhood when mum used to make it. I will be revisiting these memories now and sharing them with my children

I tried this recently and it was fabulous. It tastes like actual Hungarian goulash vs the American version.
I added extra paprika like you suggested and it was heavenly. Will be making this time and time again! The  fact that it is Paelo + Keto + GF is an extra bonus! I am going to be trying your other recipes now.
