Prime Rib Roast (The Best)

tbsp unbleached all-purpose flour

salt

tsp black pepper

onion powder

garlic powder

With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 500°F (260°C). Line a baking sheet with foil.

In a bowl, combine all of the ingredients, except for the roast.

On a work surface, rub the roast all over with the seasoning mixture.

Place the roast on the baking sheet, fat side up. Bake for 25 minutes. Turn the oven off and do not open the door for 2 hours. It is very important not to release any heat from the oven. Remove the roast from the oven and slice. Serve with béarnaise sauce, if desired.

I made this rib roast and could not ask for a better recipe. The recipe calls for a 2kg roast. I had a 1.5kg roast. Since I wanted a well done roast I cooked for the 2kg roast and came out perfect. Followed exactly, even though very dubious, but did shorten the time by about 15 min. Ideally when removing from oven, internal temp would be around 120 F...it was 165. Since the rest of my meal was planned around a later time, to let the meat rest, it ended up being grey dry. If I try this again, I’ll cut the time by 1 hour. So disappointed...waste of a good cut of meat.

This is the only method I will ever use to cook Prime Rib roast. My roast was 2 kg roast was still a teeny bit frozen in the middle so I roasted for an hour before turning off the oven, left in the oven for 2 hrs and the result was just a bit more than mid rare. The crusting on the outside is so very tasty! Try this recipe!

I made this tonight with 1.19 kg prime rib for 2 people.  We like our roast medium slightly pink so this was perfect. Absolutely delicious, will definitely make it again.

Just made this tonight for Valentine's Day. Came out perfect as described. This is a tested and true recipe. Very easy to make. No need to sear on stovetop - saves cleanups time. Cooking time is only 25 minutes (for 2Kg) - saves energy. 

I used a Samsung electrical convection oven. I read all comments and learned from my predecessors. Just in case if my oven loses heat like some of theirs, I used several kitchen towels and cardboard to block the areas where heat might leak. Works like a charm!

The Secret to Perfectly Cooked Meat

A slow roasted&nbsp;Prime Rib recipe, seasoned with garlic and herbs, with&nbsp;step by step instructions and tips for making perfect boneless or bone-in prime rib.

Prime Rib Recipe

beef prime rib ((or larger* if larger, double the spices/seasonings))

Sea salt

black pepper

rosemary

thyme

garlic (, minced)

olive oil

horseradish (, for serving (optional))

Remove your prime rib from the refrigerator one hour before cooking. Season it on all sides with salt and cover it loosely with plastic wrap as it comes to room temperature. Prime rib roast will cook better and more evenly when it’s at room temperature.&nbsp;

When you are ready to cook the prime rib, lower/adjust your oven rack so the meat will cook in the center of the oven. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.

In the meantime, mix together 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme, garlic, and olive oil.

Pat the roast with paper towels. Spoon seasoning over it, rubbing it onto all sides.&nbsp; Place bone-in roast with the bones down, inside a roasting pan cast iron pan. Place a boneless roast on a rack inside the pan.

Bake prime rib at 500 degrees for 15 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 325 degrees and continue baking until desired doneness:&nbsp;Rare: cook until thermometer reaches 120 degrees F (about 10-12 min/pound)Medium rare: Cook until thermometer reaches 130 degrees F (about 13-14 min/pound)Medium: Cook until thermometer reaches 140 degrees F (about 14-15 min/pound)Medium well – Cook until thermometer reaches 150 degrees F

A couple of things to keep in mind:- A meat thermometer is essential to ensure it cooks to your perfect doneness. Not all roasts or ovens are the same!&nbsp;-	Also, the meat will continue to cook once it’s taken out of the oven (your thermometer will continue to rise 5-10 degrees) so remove it from the oven 5-10 degrees before it reaches your optimal temperature.&nbsp;

- Remove it from the oven and tent it with foil. Allow it to rest for 30 minutes before carving.

Carve your roast by slicing against the grain at about 1/2 inch thickness. Serve with horseradish, if desired.

The Best Ribeye Roast Ever Recipe Video

A classic recipe for deeply flavorful and perfectly roasted boneless Prime Rib roast, seasoned with thyme, bay leaf, garlic, and rosemary.

BONELESS PRIME RIB ROAST

One 3 to 4 pound boneless prime rib roast

kosher salt, (or to taste)

black pepper, (or to taste)

unsalted butter, (softened)

dry bay leaf, (crushed)

Take the beef out of the fridge one hour before you’re ready to cook it. Let stand on the counter at room temperature for one hour.

Preheat oven to 450˚F.

Season beef all around with salt and pepper.

In a small mixing bowl combine softened butter, thyme, garlic powder, rosemary, and crushed bay leaf. Mash with the back of a fork until completely combined.

Rub the butter mixture all over the beef.

Using kitchen twine, tie the roast at 2-inch intervals. *Tying the roast is not a must, but in doing so, your roast will cook more evenly and it will retain its shape.*

Place roast in a large cast iron skillet.

Roast in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.

Turn down the oven temperature to 325˚F and continue to roast until internal temperature of the beef reaches 120˚F. Start checking for doneness around the 35-minute mark so you have an idea as to how much longer you need to cook it. Most importantly, use an instant read thermometer to check for doneness. There’s no other way to tell if the meat is done to your likeness.

When done, remove from oven and transfer the roast to a cutting board.

Cover it with foil and let stand for 20 minutes before slicing.

Best No-Fail Prime Rib (Garlic Herb Crust)

Remove the prime rib from the fridge 2-3 hours before cooking, and allow it to come to room temperature.

Preheat your oven to 450F/230C. In a small bowl, mix together the butter, garlic, salt, thyme, rosemary, and black pepper.

Pat and Rub

After the prime rib has come to room temperature, pat it down with paper towels to make sure it&#039;s dry. Then rub the entire outside of the prime rib with the herb butter mixture.

Place

Place the prime rib in an oven-safe pan or roasting tray with the bones-side down, fat-side up. Place the onion slices in the pan around the meat, if you&#039;re making the red wine au jus. If not, you can omit the onions.

Cook

Cook the prime rib in the center of the oven for 20 minutes at 450F. It should get a nice sear on the outside. If not, cook it a few minutes longer. Then reduce the temperature of the oven to 325F and continue cooking until the internal temperature reaches 120F (about an hour and a half), for medium-rare. But go by temperature, not time, as it will depend on the size of your prime rib and your oven.

Remove and Slice

Remove the prime rib from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes. You can tent it with aluminum foil to keep it warm. Then, remove the string and bones, and slice it up into thick 1/2&quot; slices.

After you&#039;ve removed the fat from the pan, add up to 1/4 cup of drippings back in along with the beef broth and red wine. If you have leftover herbs, you can toss those in as well.

Simmer and Drizzle

Simmer this for about 15 minutes, or until the liquid has reduced by half. It&#039;s meant to be a thin sauce, but if you&#039;d like to add a little bit of a thickener, you can do that as well. Strain the au jus to remove the onion and any browned bits, then drizzle over the prime rib.

AMAZING PRIME RIB | easy, no-fail standing rib roast recipe

Sous Vide Prime Rib makes the perfect holiday dinner recipe. This recipe for Sous Vide Prime Rib is melt-in-your mouth tender and juicy and a great stress-free way to make a prime rib roast. Slather it with our popular Prime Rib Rub and serve it with Prime Rib Au Jus.

Sous Vide Prime Rib

5-6 Lbs Prime Rib Roast (Boneless or Bone-in) ((*Note 1))

Kosher Salt

Olive Oil

Thyme

1.5 tbsp Dried Rosemary

1.5 tbsp Onion Powder

Garlic Powder

Black Pepper

Liberally season the prime rib roast with kosher salt and place in the refrigerator for at least one hour, up to 12 hours.

Set the sous vide machine to 132 degrees F for medium rare. (*Note 3)

Place the prime rib roast in a heavy-duty vacuum bag and vacuum seal.

Transfer the sealed bag to the water bath and set the timer to 8-12 hours. (*Note 3)

SOUS VIDE THE PRIME RIB ROAST:

Right before removing the prime rib roast from the water bath, make the Prime Rib Au Jus. Keep warm on the stove until ready to serve. (*Note 4)

MAKE THE AU JUS:

Whisk together the ingredients for the Prime Rib Rub and set aside.

Pre-heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until it&#39;s scorching hot (it will start to smoke a little).

While the cast iron skillet is pre-heating, remove the prime rib from the bag and reserve the cooking liquid to use in the Au Jus in place of the beef broth, if desired. Pat the prime rib dry with a paper towel.

Cover the roast with 1-2 Tbsp oil followed by the prime rib rub.

Sear the roast for 1 minute per side, including the ends (for a total of six sides).

Let rest for 15 minutes. Carve into 1/2&quot;-1&quot; slices (Personal preference) and serve with the au jus.

SEAR THE PRIME RIB ROAST:

A garlic-crusted Prime Rib Recipe with a trusted method for juicy, melt-in-your-mouth tender prime rib roast. How to trim, tie and cook a standing rib roast. Serve with Horseradish Sauce if desired.

lb beef prime rib (bone-in)

tsp sea salt (divided)

Tbsp black pepper (freshly ground)

garlic (finely chopped)

Cut the ribs away from the roast, cutting right along the ribs and keeping the ribs together. Replace the ribs back onto the roast and use kitchen string to tie them tightly onto the roast in 1-inch intervals.

Sprinkle meat all over with 2 tsp salt, cover loosely with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 3 hours to come to room temperature (it will bake more uniformly). Then preheat Oven to 500˚F with rack in the lower third of the oven.

Make your Prime Rib rub: In a small bowl, stir together: 1/2 Tbsp salt, 1/2 Tbsp black pepper, 1 tsp minced rosemary, 1/2 tsp minced thyme leaves, chopped garlic, and 3 Tbsp olive oil.

Lightly pat the roast dry with a paper towel then rub all over top and sides with garlic rub. Place into a roasting pan bone-side-down (the bones will serve as a rack) and put a meat thermometer into the thickest portion of the meat. Bake at 500˚F for 15 minutes.

Reduce heat to 325˚F and continue baking following these guidelines: 10-12 min per pound for rare, or 13-14 min per pound for medium rare, and 14-15 min per pound for medium. Roast until the thermometer registers: 120˚F for rare, 130˚F for medium rare, 140 for Medium, 150 for medium well.* 

Transfer to a cutting board, tent loosely with foil and rest 30 minutes before carving. Remove string and rack of ribs then slice to desired thickness.

Perfect Prime Rib Recipe

Salt prime rib from one hour to up to five days prior to cooking and serving your prime rib. Once salted, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate until an hour prior to cooking.

An hour prior to cooking, remove prime rib from refrigerator, unwrap and place, bone side down, on a roasting pan and allow to reach room temperature. If cooking a boneless roast, place onto a roasting rack inside the roasting pan. At this point add pepper or other seasonings, if using.

Preheat oven to 475º F. Then, roast your prime rib for 15 minutes and reduce to 325º F until your prime rib reaches the desired internal temperature, usually 11 - 12 minutes per pound, about 1 hour and 50 minutes. Using an internal meat thermometer, remove your prime rib from the oven about 2 - 4 degrees less than the desired serving final temperature you desire. The temperature of the prime rib will continue to rise due to carryover cooking. Tent prime rib with foil and allow to rest for 20 minutes.Note: Here are the temperatures you&#39;ll allow to reach depending on the doneness desired:115º F - 120º F for rare125º F - 130º F for medium rare135º F - 140º F for medium145º F - 150º F for medium well
