The BEST Side Salad Recipe: A requested side dish at family gatherings. It’s not your ordinary run of the mill side salad.  There’s a SECRET, and it tops all salad recipes we’ve tried!

The BEST Side Salad Recipe with a Trick!

romaine lettuce (See how to cut and remove stalk)

spinach (optional)

basil (or fresh!)

garlic powder

cheddar cheese

roma tomato (chopped)

bacon (chopped)

eggs

celery (chopped)

carrots (chopped)

radish (chopped)

onions

sunflower seeds (hulled)

Slice romaine leaves off of white stems, (discard white stems) and chop lettuce into small pieces and pour in large serving bowl. If also using fresh spinach, chop and add to romaine in bowl.

Next layer on your favorite toppings, such as chopped tomato, bacon, eggs, radishes, green onions, celery, carrots, sunflower seeds and cheddar cheese.

Sprinkle the garlic powder and the dried basil on top.

Serve with choice of dressing. (Our favorite is to make the Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch dressing, with the seasoning packet, buttermilk, and mayo.)

How to Make the BEST Side Salad Recipe

Inspired by maybe the most popular summertime sandwich, the BLT Salad has bacon, lettuce, tomato and a delicious sour cream and mayo creamy dressing. This is a perfect main dish for lunch or a side dish for any other meal  - a BLT Sandwich in salad form!

5 Ingredient BLT Salad (Breadless!)

Iceberg Lettuce (diced)

Tomatoes (diced)

Bacon

Sour Cream

Mayonnaise

Salt & Pepper,

 Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until it&#8217;s crispy and golden brown. Drain it on a paper towel-lined plate. Be sure to cook it until it&#8217;s nice and crispy &#8211; no floppy bacon for this BLT Salad.

 Dice up your fresh lettuce and tomatoes.

 Add all your ingredients to a large bowl.

 Serve with salad tongs or a slotted spoon right away and enjoy!

We made this quick and easy salad to use up some of our tomatoes from the garden!
