The pizza is good and ready in just 15 minutes! It&rsquo;s super simple to make and will please your spicy food loving friends and family. You can use store-bought pizza dough or make your own from scratch. Add chili oil to the marinara sauce for an extra hot kick of flavor. Spicy sausage is used for added heat. Additional flavor and texture come from onions, sweet peppers, and gooey mozzarella. After baking,&nbsp;add a generous drizzle of chili oil and crushed red pepper.

If you are using homemade pizza dough, make it according to the recipe instructions. If you are using store-bought dough, remove it from the packaged and shape it into a 12-inch circle. Spray your pizza pan with non-stick spray and dust lightly with flour and gently transfer the dough to your prepared pizza pan.

Adjust the rack to the lower middle of the oven and preheat to 475ºF.

Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the crust leaving a 1-inch bare rim around the edge. Sprinkle the sausage, onion, and peppers over the sauce. Spread the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.

Bake for 15-17 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese has melted. Rotate halfway through the cooking time.

Drizzle the chili oil over the top and sprinkle with red pepper. Let cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before slicing.

Fan of sausage and pepper sandwiches?  The popular sandwich is turned into a pizza – this Sausage and Peppers Pizza is topped with Italian sausage, peppers and onions.

Sausage and Peppers Pizza

lb sweet Italian sausage

extra virgin olive oil

red bell pepper (sliced)

yellow bell pepper (sliced)

pizza dough*

pizza sauce

Italian Cheese Mix

oregano

Preheat

Place a pizza stone in the oven (if using). Preheat the oven to 450-500ºF.

Cook

In a medium pan, bring about 1/2 inch of water to a boil. Add the sausages and cover and cook until the sausages are cooked through, about 10 minutes. Drain the water and add 1 tablespoon of the olive oil. Cook the sausages, turning, allowing the casings to crisp up. Remove the sausages from the pan and cut into 1/2 inch pieces. Return to the pan and allow them to brown on both sides.

Saute

Meanwhile, heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet. Add both peppers and the onion and cook until crisp-tender, about 8 minutes.

Assemble

Roll the crust out (on parchment, if using). Top with the pizza sauce. Add 3/4 of the cheese, followed by the peppers and onions. Add the sausage, then sprinkle with the remaining cheese.

Bake

Place the pizza in the oven and bake until the crust is crisp and the cheese is melted, about 10 minutes.

Sprinkle

Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the oregano.

This was a great recipe. I love getting creative on pizza night, and this was a combination I hadn't tried before.

This was such a fun pizza. The kids just wanted pepperoni, but the adults loved this.
