Boy choy is a nutritious vegetable and an excellent source of vitamin C and vitamin A. It tastes mild and when cooked correctly has a light crunch at the bottom with wilted greens on top. When making the recipe below, it’s important not to burn the garlic. I love this when the garlic is well toasted, but if the garlic turns very dark brown, it will taste bitter. Another thing to note is that even when you have removed the bok choy from the pan, it continues to wilt and soften. So if you notice the garlic browning too much, it’s okay to transfer everything out of the pan a minute early.

Delicious!  I was looking for a bok choy recipe without soy sauce. This was a perfect side dish for the fish we were having for dinner.

We bought Bok Choy at our local Farmers' Market this week and I decided to look for a new cooking recipe. What a great tasting, easy and quick recipe. The ingredients are perfect for each other. I chopped it for quicker cooking and it was overcooked before it caramelizas. But the flavor was awesome.

I tried this recipe last night and, although he doesn't like many vegetables, we both thought it was absolutely delicious!  You're very right that caramelizing the edges slightly makes the dish.  Thank you, I'll be making it again very soon.

10 Minute Lemon Garlic Sauteed Bok Choy Recipe

Sautéed bok choy is an easy to make and flavorful side dish that will go well with all of your Asian-inspired dinners. It's a 5-ingredient recipe that is made in under 10 minutes. You'll love it! 

Sautéed Bok Choy

+ 1 teaspoon cooking oil

½ lb. bok choy,

ginger, finely minced

garlic cloves, finely minced

soy sauce (or coco aminos)

Heat 1 tablespoon of the cooking oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the bok choy cut side down. Let it cook undisturbed for 4 minutes, or until it is golden. 

Turn the bok choy pieces over and pile them on one side of the pan. Add the remaining teaspoon of oil, ginger, and garlic to the pan and let them cook for 1 minute.

Gently mix the bok choy with ginger and garlic then make sure that they&#8217;re cut side up. Drizzle the soy sauce over top and let them cook for 2 minutes more. NOTE: if you like your bok choy well-cooked, add a tablespoon of water to the pan and cover it with a lid to steam the bok choy for an additional 2 minutes.

Creamy Cucumber Salad 

Quickly sauteed and then glazed in a rich, garlicky, maple sauce, Bok Choy Stir Fry is a flavor packed side dish that is ready in just 10 minutes!

Bok Choy Stir Fry

bok choy

neutral oil (such as avocado

garlic

ginger root

soy sauce

maple syrup

water

rice wine vinegar

sesame seeds

Rinse Bok Choy

Drain and rinse the bok choy using a colander, being sure to shake off excess moisture.

Dry Bok Choy

Dry the bok choy using a clean kitchen towel or using a salad spinner.

Heat Skillet

Heat a large nonstick saute pan over medium heat. Be sure your pan has a lid, or use a baking sheet to cover your saute pan if you do not have a lid that fits.

Heat Garic and Ginger

Add in oil and heat for 30 seconds, then add in garlic and ginger and saute for another 30 seconds, or until fragrant, being careful to not let garlic or ginger burn.

Add Bok Choy

Add in the bok choy and toss to coat with the garlic and ginger.

Add in Seasonings

Add in the soy sauce, maple syrup, and 1 tablespoon water and cover the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes.

Simmer

Uncover, add in the rice wine vinegar. Stir the bok choy and continue to saute until the greens are wilted and most of the liquid is absorbed, about 1-2 minutes longer.

Top and Serve

Turn off heat and top with toasted sesame seeds and crushed red pepper flakes if desired.

Quick Bok Choy with Garlic and Ginger

canola oil

ginger

garlic (minced)

baby bok choy (sliced in half lengthwise)

Salt and black pepper (or red pepper flakes)

sesame oil (optional)

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.

Add the ginger and garlic and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until fragrant. 

Add the bok choy, cut side down, and sear for 2 minutes.

Turn each piece of bok choy over and sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Add the soy sauce to the pan, turn to coat the bok choy and reduce the heat to medium low.

Cover the pan with a tight fitting lit and cook for 3-4 minutes, until the bok choy is tender. (If your pan is drying out before the bok choy is done, add a splash of water or broth.)

Drizzle with the sesame oil, if desired, and serve immediately.

can you please explain what "4 Bok Choy" is?...does that mean 4 leaves?...can't be...so that means 4 bunches of Bok Choy and then cut the entire thing in half?...can't imagine 4 leaves would be 4 servings...lol
