Make my shawarma spice blend to use in shawarma recipes. Bold, bright, and full of flavorful seasonings like cumin, coriander, and cayenne.

Shawarma Spice Blend

tsp black pepper

tsp coriander

tsp cumin

tsp sweet paprika

tsp ground sumac

tsp turmeric

cayenne

clove

Place all of the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until mixed or alternately blend in a spice blender. Store in an airtight container, good up to 6 months.

This was the best of the several spice blends I've seen online, mostly because of the sumac. I also added 1 tsp za'atar, not the blend, but the oregano related herb. Sumac, za'atar, and cumin remind me most of the tastes of the Middle East where I lived for 6 years.

Found you when looking for a koobideh recipe and this recipe is another winner! Thanks. You make me look like I know what I'm doing for my family. I surprise them with your Middle Eastern recipes.

You know your way around a spice pantry. Well done. I've made it three times now and this does not disappoint.

The aroma when roasting is amazing and the taste matches. Thanks Kevin.

Works great on lamb and chicken. This past weekend we used it again and everyone loved the chicken! Thanks!

Another winner for me Kevin. This is so good on chicken. #recommend

We used it on lamb this past weekend and can't decide if we prefer this or the recipe for your lamb shawarma with the onion paste instead. Both are wonderful!
