It’s easy to make restaurant-style Smash Burgers at home. These cook quickly and it’s one of the tastiest ways to prepare a burger. You’ll love the double patty with melted cheese in between, and the sauce is a must-try!

Smash Burger Recipe with Easy Sauce

beef

(added

garlic powder (optional, added to taste)

cheddar cheese (we love thick-sliced)

mayonnaise

tsp yellow mustard

burger buns (we used brioche buns)

iceberg lettuce (shredded)

tomato (sliced)

onion

Dill

Divide beef into 8 even portions, about 3 oz each. Loosely Roll them into balls then cover and refrigerate while preparing remaining ingredients. The meat must be cold when it hits the grill.

Portion Beef Patties:

Remove wilted leaves from lettuce to keep it crunchy then finely shred lettuce. Slice tomatoes, onions, and pickles.

Butter and toast buns over medium heat until golden on the buttered side.

Prep Toppings and Buns:

Increase griddle to medium/high heat. Place 2-4 burger balls onto hot griddle. Working quickly, place parchment paper over the meat and firmly smash straight down into a thin patty.

Once patties are smashed, peel back and discard parchment papers and season patties with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Add 1/2 teaspoon of burger sauce. Cook 2 minutes on the first side or until seared and juices start to come to the surface.

Scrape under the burger with spatula facing down at a 45˚ angle to get under the caramelized part and flip. Cook another 1 minute. Top half of the patties with sliced cheese and cover cheese with the second patty. Repeat with remaining burgers and transfer them to a platter as they finish cooking.

Cook the Patties:

Place sauce on bottom of bun. Top with 3 pickle slices, shredded lettuce, 2 tomato slices and thin sliced onion. Add double patty and top with bun.

SMASH BURGER INGREDIENTS:
►1 1/2 lbs ground beef 80/20, divided into 8 portions (3oz each)
►2 Tbsp butter melted to brush onto the griddle
►Salt added to taste
►Black Pepper added to taste

►4 slices medium cheddar cheese we love thick-sliced

Burger Sauce:
►1/3 cup mayo
►1 tsp yellow mustard

Toppings:
►4 burger buns we used brioche buns
►2 cups iceberg lettuce shredded
►1 large tomato sliced
►1/2 red onion sliced into thin rings
►2 Dill Pickles cut into 12 slices

The Best SMASH BURGER I Ever Made

Layers of crispy beef, melty cheese, and all of the classic toppings are folded in flour tortillas, creating irresistible Smashburger Tacos. Fire up a hot griddle and get ready to eat, these sear up quickly!

Smash Burger Tacos

beef, 80/20, portioned into 3-ounce balls

Salt & pepper

flour tortillas

American cheese

Burger Sauce (recipe below)

Sweet and Spicy Pickles

Shredded lettuce

Burger Sauce

ketchup

pickle relish

apple cider vinegar

black pepper

Portion the beef and prepare the workstation. Make sure the beef is about a small golf-ball size, roughly 3 ounces. Have the tortillas, cheese, and everything ready to go as this process happens quickly.

Heat up the griddle to a high heat for searing. Don&#8217;t turn on all of the burners, just the one you&#8217;ll need to sear. This will give your tacos a cool landing place for when they are flipped.

Season the beef and place on the griddle. Sprinkle salt and pepper onto one side of the beef and place it face down on the griddle. Do this for all of the portions, spacing them far enough apart so you can smash them down.

Add the tortilla to the top and smash down. Quickly place a flour tortilla on top of the beef and smash it down using a press or your spatula. Press down to make sure it&#8217;s extremely thin. It&#8217;s not a problem if the burger is a little bigger than the tortilla. Let the meat cook for about 2-3 minutes or until the color of the beef has darkened and it&#8217;s crisp on the bottom.

Scrape and flip the tacos. Using a bench scraper or spatula, forcefully scrape the meat off the griddle and flip the tortillas to the cooler side. Do not sear the tortillas on the hot surface, or they will crisp up. Add your cheese and cover the taco with a bowl or a lid to assist in melting if needed.

Top and serve immediately. No need to wait for the meat to rest, these smash burger tacos are waiting for your toppings. Enjoy!

Bro I made these today on a cast iron griddle on a gas grill, phenomenal.  The sweet and spicy pickles kicked it over the top and I used an old burger sauce recipe I always use with pickles and a little pickle juice in it. Having the griddle hot already is the key to this recipe.

These were amazing and so much ‘lighter’ than a traditional hamburger on a bun. I wasn’t t sure about the pickles but they were the bomb! The whole combination of tortilla, burger, cheese, lettuce , sauce and pickles was so good! My husband was on board as the grill master and we will definitely make this recipe a keeper!

Get ready to meet your new favorite burger! Smash burgers are all about that crispy, caramelized edge, juicy center, and fast, no-fuss cooking. They&#039;re everything you love about a diner-style burger—made right at home, in minutes.

Smash Burgers

Divide the ground beef evenly into 4-ounce portions and form into balls. Cover and place in the refrigerator while you heat the grill and prepare the rest of the ingredients.

Heat the grill to between 500 to 550ºF. For that classic smash burger crust, the grill needs to be super hot! Prepare any toppings that you might want to serve with your burgers. Slice the tomato, wash the lettuce, chop the onion, mix up the burger sauce and prepare any other ingredients that you would like on your hamburger. Butter both sides of each bun.

I like my onions sautéed on the griddle alongside the burgers and depending on how much space you have, you can do this at the same time the burgers cook. Get some chopped onions cooking a few minutes before you start cooking the patties. You&#39;ll want to keep an eye on these and flip them them occasionally.

Place the balls of ground beef on the hot griddle, cover with a piece of parchment paper and press down with a burger press or a large flat metal spatula. Get the patty as flat and thin as you can.

Season generously with seasoned salt and cook for 2 minutes.

Flip the patties using a metal spatula, making sure to scrape up the flavorful crust that’s formed on the bottom.

Place some of the sautéed onions (if using) on top of the patties and then a slice of cheese.

Toast the inside of each bun on the griddle for about 20 seconds or until golden brown.

Cook the patty 1-2 more minutes. Once the meat is cooked through, place on the toasted bun with desired condiments. Feel free to serve these the traditional way, with two patties!

These were hands-down the best homemade burgers I’ve ever made—everyone raved, and not a single one was left!
