Best Smoked Turkey Recipe

Remove the neck and giblets from the turkey, and pat the turkey dry.

Rub the minced garlic all over the turkey, then sprinkle the entire outside of the bird with seasoned salt.

Place the turkey in a large roasting pan or disposable aluminum pan.

Stuff the large cavity of the bird with the remaining ingredients.

Cover the turkey loosely with foil.

Prepare the smoker and heat to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the turkey in the smoker and baste every 1-2 hours with turkey juices from the pan. 

Smoke until the internal temperature reaches 180 degrees Fahrenheit in the thickest part of the thigh.&nbsp;It’s good to plan 30 minutes per pound when you smoke a turkey between 225-250 degrees Fahrenheit. This turkey was 13 pounds and took about 7-8 hours to get to temperature.&nbsp;

Remove the turkey from the smoker and allow it to sit, still covered with foil, for 10 minutes before slicing.

How to Smoke a Turkey

Nothing beats a plate of crispy Smoked Chicken Wings! This recipe for smoked wings produces juicy and tender chicken with extra crispy skin. Between the smoked chicken wings rub recipe and optional wings sauce, you&#39;ll find this is the best smoked wing recipe.

Crispy Smoked Chicken Wings

Lbs Chicken Wings (Separated) ((*Note 1))

tbsp Olive Oil

½ tsp Cayenne Pepper ((*Note 2))

½ tsp Garlic Powder

Salt

½ tsp Black Pepper

Cup Franks Hot Sauce, Divided

Tbsp Melted Butter

Ranch, Blue Cheese, Carrot Sticks and/or Celery Sticks.

Pre-heat the smoker/grill to 225°F, and set up for indirect cooking. If using a manual smoker, aim to keep it between 225°F - 250°F. Add your wood of choice right before adding the chicken.

Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel and transfer to a large mixing bowl.

Add the olive oil and toss to evenly coat. Sprinkle your dry rub of choice over the chicken (we used the dry rub listed above for buffalo) and toss to coat.

PREPARE THE WINGS AND SAUCE:

Place the chicken on the smoker and grill for approx. 60 minutes. Flip the wings, as needed, to avoid any flare ups.

SMOKE THE WINGS:

While the wings are smoking, make your sauce of choice (if using a sauce). For the buffalo sauce, just mix the Frank&#39;s Hot Sauce with melted butter. Set aside until ready to use.

PREPARE THE SAUCE:

Increase the heat to 350°F and grill for approximately 20 minutes.

Brush both sides of the wings with your sauce of choice (if using) and cook for another 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 175°F. Flip the wings, as needed, to avoid any flare ups.

Remove from the heat, toss with any remaining sauce, and serve immediately.

Smoked Turkey Rub

Wash the turkey, remove the giblets and neck, then pat the turkey dry.

Mix together all of the dried spices in&nbsp; a small bowl.

Pat the spices all over the skin of the turkey.

Cover the turkey with plastic wrap and allow it to sit for 30 minutes while the smoker comes to temperature.

**Follow the manufacturer's instructions for preheating your smoker. See the above instructions for a Traeger grill. **

Set the smoker temperature to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the plastic wrap. Place the turkey in a foil pan and place it on the grill.

Close the grill lid and allow the turkey to cook for 30 minutes per pound. Use a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh (making sure it is not touching bone) to read the internal temperature. The turkey is done when the temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Remove the turkey from the smoker and allow it to rest for 15 minutes before slicing.

**If you'd like, you can baste the turkey a few times during cooking with the juices, or brush it with oil.
