A family friendly lightly sweetened Blueberry Cobbler with a flaky biscuit topping with a touch of cinnamon.  For an over the top treat serve with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.

Blueberry Cobbler

sugar

cornstarch

flour

baking powder

Melt butter in 9&#215;9 inch baking dish in the oven.

Stir together the blueberries, 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.  Spoon that into the bottom of the baking dish on top of the butter.

Whisk together the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, salt and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Using a pastry cutter cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly.  Stir in the buttermilk just until the mixture is moistened.  Drop the dough by rounded spoonfuls on to the blueberries.  Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar.  Bake for 35-40 minutes or until lightly browned and bubbly.

Blueberry cobbler is always a hit at our house but haven't tried it with buttermilk. Gotta give it a go!

What a perfect summer dessert! Will be a perfect dessert, served with some ice cream after a summer dinner.

I sprinkled some coarse sugar over the top before baking, and it added a nice crunch and a bit of sweetness. So good warm with vanilla ice cream!

After seeing that first photo I had to run into the kitchen and make this last night.  My whole family especially the dear husband went nuts over this, didn't make enough!!  no leftovers and barely got to have a bite!

Old Fashioned Blueberry Cobbler is as easy as a cobbler can be.  Make this  Southern Blueberry Cobbler recipe with either fresh or frozen blueberries.  It&#39;s great on its own but can be served topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream too.

Old Fashioned Blueberry Cobbler - A Southern Blueberry Cobbler Recipe

sugar (for blueberries)

sugar (for batter)

milk

vanilla extract

Combine blueberries and 1/3 cup sugar, set aside.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. While preheating, add stick of butter to 13 x 9 inch baking dish, and let melt in oven, watching carefully. Remove from oven when melted.

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add milk and vanilla extract, stirring to make a batter.

Pour batter directly into melted butter.  Sprinkle blueberries into the center of the batter.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until lightly golden brown.

Serve as is or topped with milk, ice cream or whipped cream.

Easy Blueberry Cobbler

salted butter

granulated sugar,

all-purpose flour

whole buttermilk, shaken (or substitute with regular whole or 2% milk)

For serving: vanilla ice cream

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Place butter in a 9-inch or 10-inch cast iron skillet. If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, you can use a deep-dish pie plate or a deep 9-inch square baking dish. Transfer the skillet to the oven until the butter melts. Keep a close eye on it so that the butter doesn’t burn or scorch.

Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk together 1 ¼ cups of sugar, flour, salt and baking powder. Add buttermilk and vanilla extract; stir just until combined.

Once the butter melts, carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven. Pour the batter into the skillet. Sprinkle blueberries and remaining 1 tablespoon sugar on top.
