Tender, flaky cod is gently coated in seasoned flour, then pan seared to create a most perfect crust. A buttery, lemon sauce only takes minutes to prepare and is the perfect compliment to any white fish. 

Easy Pan Fried Cod with Lemon Butter Sauce

canola oil

lemon

salt

black pepper

flour

cornstarch flour

garlic powder

onion powder

paprika

butter

garlic cloves,

fresh parsley, chopped

In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika.

Pat the cod filets with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture.

Season both sides of the cod with salt and pepper.

Squeeze lemon juice on all sides of the fish.

Lightly coat the cod filets in the flour mixture. 

Place cod in the heated oil. Allow to brown and form a crust before flipping (should take about 5 to 6 minutes for a thick cod filet).

Brown the opposite side for about three minutes. 

Transfer to a paper towel to soak up excess oil.

In the same pan, remove a bit of the oil (leave any browned bits)

On medium heat, melt the butter with the garlic. Add in the fresh parsley.

Cook for just a few minutes to soften the garlic. Do NOT brown!

Drizzle the lemon butter sauce onto the fish.
