This is a basic sugar scrub recipe that is easily enhanced with all sorts of essential oils, extracts and add-ins to make it your own.

Basic Sugar Scrub Recipe

*granulated sugar

*vegetable oil

vitamin E oil (optional but great idea to add in)

essential oil

Stir oils into the sugar.

This exfoliating DIY Coconut Sugar Scrub will make your skin soft as silk! It&#x27;s super easy to make with just 4 ingredients, and it smells amazing!

DIY Coconut Sugar Scrub

coconut oil

sugar

vitamin e (optional)

Combine the two sugars in a bowl and mix to incorporate. Add coconut oil and vitamin e and stir to combine.

Store in an airtight jar and stir before using (when needed – the oils will settle when not being used).

This moisturizing lemon sugar scrub will leave your skin feeling soft and refreshed. 

Lemon Sugar Scrub

2 1/1 tbsp coconut oil, melted (virgin or fractionated)

olive oil

tbsp raw honey ((optional – great

lemon juice

lemon

Melt the coconut oil in a saucepan over low heat, or microwave for 10-15 seconds. Mix the honey into the warm coconut oil.

Then add in the olive oil and lemon essential oil.

Pour 1/2 cup of sugar into a medium bowl. Add the oil and honey mixture and mix well. 

Add the fresh lemon juice and mix until combined. 

If you would like the sugar scrub to have a creamy texture, you may use a food processor to blend the scrub together into a creamy paste. This still works great to exfoliate the skin! 

Store in an air-tight container. Use within 2 weeks.

Sugar scrubs are fantastic for exfoliating and moisturizing the skin. This simple sugar scrub recipe uses only three natural ingredients; sugar, coconut oil, and essential oils. This scrub makes for a great gift for birthdays, baby shower, or holiday gift. Just store the scrub in a pretty jar and add a label!

DIY Sugar Scrub Recipe + Variations 

white sugar, brown sugar, or coconut sugar

carrier oil (I used coconut oil)

essential oils

dry herbs (optional)

tsp vitamin e oil (optional)

organic brown sugar

coconut oil, melted

vanilla essential oil vanilla extract

brown sugar

white sugar

pumpkin oil

cinnamon

nutmeg

ginger

clove

organic cane sugar

lavender essential oil

lavender buds

Start by mixing the sugar with 1/4 cup of oil. Then, use a whisk or food processor to mix the sugar and oil together. If the scrub is dry, add more oil until the scrub holds together and isn&#8217;t too dry or too oily.

Then, add in the essential oils. I like to start with 10-15 drops, stir well and smell the scrub. Then, if it needs more, I&#8217;ll add more, five drops at a time, until I reach the fragrance I&#8217;m trying to achieve. 

If you&#8217;re adding in an antioxidant or preservative, now is the time to add it. If you are using a preservative, please use proper gloves and protective gear.

For a creamier sugar scrub consistency, run the mixture through a food processor until it&#8217;s whipped and creamy.

Scoop the sugar scrub out of the bowl and into storage jars. Label each jar with the fragrance title and date created. Store the scrubs in a cool dark place.

Use 1-2 tablespoons of the sugar scrub to exfoliate your skin.

Rub gently in a circular motion to massage and rub into your skin.

Rinse off thoroughly with warm or hot water in the shower. You may want to use a drain catcher to collect herbs from going down the drain.

Thank you for the recipes! I have noticed that most of them follow a 1 cup of sugar to 1/4 cup coconut oil, but the pumpkin spice one is 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup sugar to 1/4 cup coconut oil. Is that a typo? Should there still be 1 cup of sugar to coconut oil?
