This Easy Sweet Focaccia, is made in a skillet on the stove. Stuffed with your favourite chocolate and or creamy hazelnut spread. Dessert or snack, it's perfect.

Stove Top Stuffed Sweet Focaccia

all purpose flour ((260 grams))

sugar ((50 grams))

baking powder

salt

vanilla

water

vegetable oil ((I use corn oil))

Nutella (or favourite hazelnut cream) ((148 grams))

chocolate (dark, milk

butter (divided)

powdered / icing sugar ((more or less))

In a large bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Make a well in the middle and add the vanilla, water and oil. Mix together with a fork until combined.&nbsp;

Move dough to a flat surface and knead a few times to form a smooth dough ball. Cover (with bowl or clean towel) and let rest 15 minutes.

Cut the dough in half and form 2x 8 inch (20 cm) circles, one circle spread with the Nutella and sprinkle with the chopped chocolate (or chips). Wet the border with a little water and then place the 2nd circle on top and seal with a fork or wooden fork.

Heat half the butter in a 9-10 inch (23-25 cm) frying pan,&nbsp; place the focaccia in the pan, cover and cook for 7-10 minutes* on low- medium low heat. Remove the focaccia to a clean plate, melt the remain butter and then gently add the uncooked side of the focaccia, again cover and cook for 7-10 minutes. Move to a plate, cool to warm, dust with powdered sugar and serve. Enjoy!

FOR THE DOUGH

Sesame strawberry jam focaccia is a sweet and unique twist on the classic Italian bread. This focaccia recipe incorporates the nutty sesame seeds, sweet and fruity flavors of strawberry jam into the savory and chewy texture of focaccia, creating a delicious and versatile style of bread. 

Sesame Strawberry Jam Focaccia

bread flour

tbsp (7 ml) sesame oil

tsp (2 g) sugar

tsp (1.6) g yeast

tbsp sesame oil

sesame seeds,

flaky salt,

Prepare dough

To a medium bowl, add the water and yeast. Swirl the bowl and then add in the sugar and sesame oil, and stir. Add the flour and salt and mix with a wooden or firm spatula until it comes together. The dough will be very wet and shaggy. Cover and rest for 30 minutes.

Stretch and fold

Wet your hands and stretch the dough from the top of the bowl, pulling it up and then to the other end of the dough (ex. starting at 12 o'clock and then bringing it down to 6 o'clock). Repeat all the way around. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes and repeat the stretch and fold. Cover and rest another 20 minutes. This time, dallop 2 tbsp of the strawberry jam over the dough. Fold and stretch. Flip the dough so that it is smooth side up. Drizzle with 1/2 tbsp olive oil, cover and refrigerate overnight. 

Next day

Line and oil a 8.25 x 6.25 inch baking pan with the other 1/2 tbsp of olive oil. Remove from the fridge and flip it over into the pan. Bring the top edge down and the bottom edge up, folding it over. Flip dough seam side down. 

Proof for 1 - 1 1/2 hours. The time will highly depend on the temperature of your kitchen.

Drizzle with sesame oil and dimple the dough.  Add the remaining strawberry jam and aim to push the jam into the dimples. Top with sesame seeds and flaky salt. Bake for 18-22 minutes (mine is always perfect at 20 minutes). 

Transfer to a wire rack and let it cool for 20 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!!
