This scrumptious tahini banana bread is moist, sweet, and perfectly nutty. It's topped with a homemade tahini glaze for the perfect salty-sweet nutty finish!

Tahini Banana Bread

overripe medium bananas, mashed

unsalted butter, melted

sugar

brown sugar

eggs, room temperature

tahini

baking soda

salt

all purpose flour

Tablespoons of tahini

Tablespoon cream

sesame seeds for topping, optional

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan and set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together mashed bananas with the melted butter, stirring to combine. Add the brown sugar and white sugar. Whisk to combine. Add the tahini and eggs and whisk until fully combined.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet. Do not over mix! Transfer the batter to your prepare pan.

Bake for 50 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before removing from loaf pan.

While the bread cools, make the glaze. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the tahini, milk, sugar, and salt and whisk vigorously until smooth and no clumps of sugar remain. Pour the glaze over the warm bread and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired!

I turned these into muffins for better portion control and they came out to 5 points on  WW using a sugar substitute. They have the best banana taste. Will definitely be making these again!!!

Really yummy bread! I love banana bread and this has to be one of my favourite recipes. The saltiness comes through but is balanced perfectly with the sweetness of the bananas and the icing. Had to cover with foil and keep for 20 minutes longer as it was still raw in the middle while browning on the outside. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

A classic recipe with a stellar tahini twist. My goodness, this was a real treat to enjoy. Surprisingly rich without being too sweet. I was truly blown away at how lovely the bake was. So easy to make too as I had all ingredients on hand. Used Trader Joe's tahini, very creamy. Great call on tenting the foil, prevented too much browning on top. This bread is very good, especially if you like Tahini.  Mine had to cook about 10 mins longer, but didn't dry out.  My glaze did come out rather thick, and I only used 3/4 of the powdered sugar.  Probably needed more milk.  I would definitely make again.  I bet it's delicious even without the glaze.

Gluten-free and vegan banana bread

bananas*

applesauce

drippy tahini*

maple syrup

vanilla extract

oats

almond flour

flax

cinnamon

sea salt

Preheat oven to 350.  Line loaf pan with unbleached parchment paper.

In bowl of food processor, add bananas, applesauce, tahini, maple syrup and vanilla.  Process until smooth.

Add in oats and almond flour.  Process 30 seconds, scrape down sides and process again until oats have broken down and batter is smooth.

Add flax, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.  Process 15 seconds, scrape down sides and process again, until just mixed.

If using chocolate chips or chopped nuts, stir them in by hand now.

Pour into prepared pan and use spatula to evenly disperse.

Bake 50-55 minutes, until toothpick inserted comes out dry and top is golden.

Leave in pan for 10 minutes to begin cooling process.

Place a kitchen towel underneath a cooling rack to absorb any moisture from cooling process. Use ends of parchment paper to facilitate transfer to cooling rack. Remove parchment paper and allow banana bread to thoroughly before slicing.
