This Totchos recipe is a family favorite appetizer. Crispy tater tots are topped with beef, cheese, and more. Make this easy appetizer for next family gathering.

Frozen Tator Tots (28 ounce bag)

Tablespoons Taco Seasoning

Beef

Black Beans (rinsed and drained)

Shredded Colby Jack Cheese

Corn

Tomato (diced)

Sour Cream

Cilantro

Sliced Jalapeños

Toss the frozen tator tots with half of the taco seasoning.  Spread them out on a baking sheet and bake them based on the package instructions.

While the tator tots are baking, heat in a large skillet over medium high heat.  Add in the ground beef.

Season it with the remaining taco seasoning and brown the ground beef.  Breaking it up as it cooks.

Once the tator tots are done cooking, remove them from the oven and top with the ground beef.

Sprinkle the black beans, corn and half of the shredded cheese on top.

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes until the cheese is melted.

Remove from the oven, top with the remaining shredded cheese, tomatoes and any other toppings you prefer.

Serve immediately while warm and enjoy!

These crunchy tater tots are made extra delicious with the spicy Buffalo aioli. Load them up with blue cheese crumbles and parsley for a perfect football or game day appetizer.

Frozen Tater Tots

mayonnaise

garlic powder

paprika

blue cheese

TBSP chopped parsley

Mix the mayo, wing sauce, garlic powder and paprika together in a bowl.

Keep it in the fridge, covered, until ready to serve.

Prepare tater tots per package directions.

Once tater tots are done, transfer them to your serving dish.

Pour Buffalo aioli over the tater tots.

Sprinkle on blue cheese crumbles and chopped parsley.

Serve immediately.

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer. Cook according to package directions, minus 5 minutes. (The kind I used suggested 22-25 minutes for a whole bag, or 18-22 minutes for a half bag.)

Remove tots from oven. Top with cheese and place back in the oven for 3 minutes.

Add the ground beef and some more cheese and place back in the oven for 3-4 minutes, until warmed through and the cheese is gooey.

While the tots are cooking, prepare any toppings you would like to add to the totchos.

Remove from the oven. Cover with your favorite toppings. I used jalapeños, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole and fresh cilantro.

Taco Seasoning (or 1/2 (1-ounce) packet)

Cheddar Cheese (shredded (about 1 cup))

Bacon (crumbled (about 6 slices))

Lime (juiced)

Avocado (diced) (or 1/2 cup guacamole)

Salsa (or cherry tomatoes)

Cilantro (chopped)

Jalapeno Pepper (seeded and sliced)

Toss TATER TOTS with TACO SEASONING, then bake according to package instructions. Note: Bake tater tots extra crispy to prevent becoming soggy.

Transfer baked tots to an oven-safe serving platter. Scatter BEANS, CHEDDAR CHEESE, and half of the BACON over the surface.

Bake a few minutes, or until cheddar is melted.

In a small mixing bowl, make lime crema by whisking SOUR CREAM and LIME JUICE together.

Remove totchos from the oven and scatter fresh toppings to serve: SALSA, AVOCADO, remaining BACON, LIME CREMA, CILANTRO, JALAPENO, and GREEN ONION.

Serve and devour!

My guests LOVED the tochos, exclaiming, “it’s a real keeper!” My husband wouldn’t let me throw away that which was left because he loved it so much! I will make this often!

It's been way too long since I've made this totchos recipe. It's one of my favorite KG recipes of all time and I'm about to make it happen. If I make these tater tot nachos with your taco meat recipe, I may never go back to the regular kind LOL.
