This easy Meatloaf recipe is flavorful and moist, made with basic pantry ingredients and baked with the most delicious meatloaf sauce on top.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a standard size loaf pan with cooking spray.

Add all of the meatloaf ingredients to a large bowl and gently mix everything to combine (without over-working the meat). Add the meat mixture to a loaf pan and gently pat into an even layer.

Bake for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, make the meatloaf sauce by combining all ingredients in a bowl.

Remove meatloaf from oven and spread sauce on top. Return to oven for 10-20 minutes or until cooked through (160 degrees F).

Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Traditional Homemade Meatloaf

bread crumbs

milk (or water plus more if needed)

olive oil (or butter)

onion

baking soda

water

ground beef (80-85% lean)

Bell's Seasoning* (optional)

parsley (chopped)

black pepper (to taste)

brown sugar

soy sauce

Preheat oven to 350°F

In a small mixing bowl stir together bread crumbs and milk until they are fully moistened. Allow to soak while sautéing the onion.

Sauté the onions in oil or butter until soft.  Set aside to cool.

In a small mixing bowl mix ½ teaspoon baking soda with a tablespoon of water to form a slurry.

Add the beef to a large bowl and pour over the baking soda mixture before adding the moistened breadcrumbs, eggs, cooled onions, parsley, ketchup, Bell&#39;s Seasoning, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix with your hands until everything is just combined (trying not to over-mix).

Transfer the meat mixture to a roasting pan lined with nonstick foil (or parchment paper) Form into a loaf shape pressing with your hands.

In a smaller bowl, mix together all the ingredients for the glaze. Spread evenly over the top.

Bake the meatloaf for 55 minutes or until it has an internal temperature of 160°F.

Allow to rest 10 minutes (lightly tented with foil to keep it hot) before serving.

This was a really good meatloaf recipe. I didn't have Bell's Seasoning so I subbed other seasonings. I'll make it again after I get some Bell's. But the taste &amp; texture were good. I was specifically looking for a recipe for a moist meatloaf and this was fairly moist!

(Just a note on your instructions...you didn't include the breadcrumbs in the mixture! It would have been easy for me to forget to put them in! 😉)

This was the very best meatloaf I ever made--so flavorful and tender!  The spice combination is unique and delicious, and the addition of extra liquids and baking soda (and not overworking the mixture) evidently make all the difference in the meatloaf's texture.
