turkey meatloaf recipe

Our turkey meatloaf is full of flavor, moist in the middle, and has become a reader favorite! You would never guess this meatloaf is packed with mushrooms, but that’s what makes it so darn delicious. Lots of finely chopped mushrooms add flavor and moisture, often missing from the typical turkey meatloaf. When choosing which mushrooms to add, white button mushrooms will work perfectly fine. For more flavor, try one or a combination of brown cremini, portobello, or shiitake mushrooms. The mushrooms need to be very finely chopped. You can do this by hand or use a food processor.

What a wonderful recipe, best meatloaf we've made. Thank you! It's so good that we've made it several times now, and I'm on this because we're making it again this evening.

This was my first time making meat loaf and it was really easy to make. It was delicious 😋 nice and moist. So good

This IS the moistest meatloaf ever. I made it almost exactly as in the recipe but I only had 1 pound of turkey and so I added a pound of 96% fat free ground beef, hence it made a couple more servings since I used 2 lbs of meat. My BF really doesn't like mushrooms but I had a an 8 oz container of baby bellas that was at its use it or lose it date. I stuck those babies in my hand crank chopper thingie and made both the mushrooms and onions a pretty small dice (reminded me of duxelles). He loved it and said it didn't taste mushroomy. I'll definitely make it again.

This was amazing. I deviated slightly by de-glazing the sauteed onions and mushrooms with red wine and adding celery salt to the mix. I also used Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs vs plain Panko. I prefer a less sweet meatloaf so added only the thinnest layer of ketchup to the top of the loaf before cooking. It turned out fantastic. Will 100% make this again, even considering challenging my mother to a meatloaf bake off :)

Made a few turkey meatloafs in the past and they always tend to be on the dry side. Tried this recipe tonight and what a difference. Thank you for sharing the secret of mushrooms. This will be my go to turkey meatloaf recipe in the future

I made this last night and I have to say that it was the BEST meatloaf ever ...I didn't have panko so I used oats (not a whole cup). It was absolutely delicious and moist and we couldn't even tell it was not ground beef. The mushrooms did the trick. Used baby bellas. Thank you so much for this go to recipe.

Fantastic! I could not eve tell it was turkey it was that moist. The mushrooms gave it a great flavor. A definite keeper!

My husband will only eat extra lean turkey meat no beef so I never thought I could make meatloaf but... this recipe is amazing so moist and flavorful. It was just as good the next day. Will definitely be making this often. I didn’t have panko breadcrumbs so I used seasoned croutons but other than that didn’t stray from the recipe.

An easy turkey meatloaf recipe and the secret for how to make the best moist and flavorful meatloaf. With Recipe!

Unbelievably Moist Turkey Meatloaf Recipe - How to Make Homemade Turkey Meatloaf

Adding ground turkey meat and oats to the traditional ground beef base makes this meatloaf lighter and healthier — but it's just as hearty and comforting as any old-fashioned recipe.

Soy-Glazed Meatloaf

ketchup

brown sugar

soy sauce

eggs

tbsp. balsamic vinegar

Kosher salt and pepper

c. panko

c. fresh flat-leaf parsley, chopped

beef chuck

Mixed green salad,

Healthy turkey meatloaf stuffed with feta cheese and spinach and drizzled with a tangy cucumber dill sauce. It's a delicious keto meal the whole family will love. And it's remarkably easy to make.

Feta-Stuffed Turkey Meatloaf

full fat Greek yogurt

lemon juice

garlic (finely minced)

cucumber

tsp chopped (fresh dill)

tsp salt

lbs turkey ((dark meat if possible))

spinach

almond flour

onion

salt

marjoram

tsp pepper

feta cheese

For the sauce, mix all ingredients in a medium bowl and chill until serving.

For the meatloaf, line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 325F.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the turkey, spinach, almond flour, eggs, onion, salt, marjoram, and pepper. Mix with your hands until very well combined.

Place half of the turkey mixture on the prepared baking sheet and shape into a flat rectangle, about 1 inch thick. Cover with 3/4 cup of the feta cheese. Place remaining turkey mixture overtop of feta and shape the whole thing into a rough loaf. Sprinkle with the remaining feta, pressing lightly to adhere.

Bake for 1 to 1 1/4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 160F on an instant read thermometer.

Cut into slices and drizzle with tzatziki sauce, passing remaining sauce at the table.

I really enjoyed this recipe. I cut it in half because there is only one of me (baked it for 50 minutes). The other changes I made were to use riced broccoli instead of spinach and no cucumber for the sauce. It has been snowing here for the last 2 days and I'm not about to go out to get ingredients! I made do with what I have on hand. It came out well. However, I found out my Greek seasoning has sugar AND Modified Food starch in it so I will be searching for a different brand that makes it without.

As always, thank you for your creative recipes!

I’d been using your older recipe and loved it, would you mind re-posting that one for reference? Tried the update and my husband was wanting the older one. Thanks so much!

I haven't made meatloaf in such a long time and when my family took their first bite of this, I knew it would quickly be added to our normal dinner rotation. So delicious!

Tasty Turkey Meatloaf is flavorful and juicy. Simple ingredients and a sweet & tangy sauce makes this our favorite meatloaf!

Tasty Turkey Meatloaf

lbs Lean Ground Turkey ((85%-93% lean is best))

Panko Bread Crumbs

Milk, (or half and half)

½ Sweet Onion, (grated

Eggs

Ketchup

Worcestershire Sauce

Kosher Salt

Black Pepper

Garlic Powder

Poultry Seasoning ((or Italian seasoning))

Brown Sugar

Yellow Mustard

Heat oven to 350° F.

In a large bowl, combine all of the meatloaf mixture ingredients until well incorporated. Try not to overwork the mixture.

Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment and use your hands to shape it into a loaf of even thickness (If all you have is a loaf pan, that will work fine, you might use less of the topping, which you can save for dipping).

Bake for 50-60 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to take the internal temperature of the meatloaf. If it reads 165 degrees, then it is done. If less than that, put it back in the oven for 15 minutes and take temperature again (I take mine out at 160 degrees and let it rest for 10 minutes or so. The temperature ends up at 165°).

If you have any of the topping sauce left, you can use it as a dip, or spread it over the cooked meatloaf and serve.

This is a delicious meatloaf! We don't eat beef so this was perfect!

Tender, moist, and with an Asian flavor twist, this hoisin turkey meatloaf is a tasty remix of a classic. Swapping ketchup for hoisin sauce gives this meatloaf delicious flavor, and it's easy to prepare ahead and freeze.

Hoisin Turkey Meatloaf (freezer friendly!)

lb turkey (see note 1)

worcestershire sauce

breadcrumbs

ginger

onion powder

garlic powder

hoisin sauce (plus

Prepare

Prepare- Heat oven to 350°F. Line a loaf pan with a strip of parchment. To help it stick, consider spritzing the bottom of the pan with spray oil. Secure with binder clips or tape.

Mix meatloaf ingredients- In a large bowl, mix together the ground turkey with breadcrumbs, an egg, ground ginger and hoisin sauce. You can use your hands to mix it in evenly, or a spatula. Do not over-mix the meatloaf, or it can end up dense.

Add mixture

Add Meatloaf to pan- Scrape the meatloaf mixture into the pan, and press it gently down with a spatula until it's smooth across the top (do not press hard as it will end up dense). Remove the tape or binder clips, trim the parchment so it's 1 inch or less of overhang.

Bake

Bake- Place the loaf pan into the oven, and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until baked through. You can use a thermometer to check the internal temperature of the meatloaf has reached 165°F.

Brush

Brush with hoisin- For extra flavor and pretty presentation, use a silicone brush to spread a thin layer of hoisin sauce across the top of the meatloaf. Top with green onions to serve.

Hoisin Turkey Meatloaf

Smoky, savory, and topped with a sticky BBQ glaze—this turkey meatloaf recipe holds its own against any beef version.

Turkey Meatloaf

(packed) dark brown sugar

apple cider vinegar

Dijon mustard

olive oil

yellow onion, (minced)

garlic, (minced)

paprika

thyme

lb 93% ground turkey

few springs chopped fresh parsley, (for garnish (optional))

Set oven rack to middle position and preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with heavy-duty aluminum foil; grease the foil with olive oil or non-stick cooking spray.

Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, cider vinegar, and Dijon mustard. Set aside.

Make the Meatloaf: Heat the olive oil in a small sauté pan over medium heat. Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook 1 to 2 minutes more. Do not brown. Set aside to cool.

In a large bowl, combine the salt, pepper, paprika, thyme, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, eggs, and ¼ cup of the BBQ glaze. Whisk until well combined. Stir in the onion mixture. Add the ground turkey and breadcrumbs and mix with your hands until evenly combined.

Transfer the meat mixture into two even piles onto the prepared baking sheet. Shape into two long loaves about 1½ in (4 cm) high x 6 in (15 cm) long x 4 in (10 cm) wide. Spread the remaining BBQ glaze over the loaves, letting it drip down the sides a bit. Bake for about 45 minutes, until the meatloaves are cooked through. Scrape any fat away from the sides of the loaves, then transfer the loaves to a platter. Slice and garnish with parsley if desired.

This is one of our favorites. Great flavor and texture, and easy to make!

I have been enjoying this recipe and shared it with friends and family members. My sister-in-law has made some additions that I tried and found excellent to add taste and texture to the turkey meatloaf so I am sharing it with you. She adds grated carrots, diced celery and whatever vegetables she has in the house and the result is wonderful. Perhaps try it and suggest the additions to your readers.

Flavorful, healthy, and easy. I used fresh thyme and added one tablespoon of fresh parsley to the spice mixture. I also added half of an orange pepper and half of a red pepper to the onion and garlic to boost the flavor and add extra vegetables.

I made this recipe for dinner today, and it was delicious. I actually thought that it was better that a beef meatloaf. It just felt much lighter, not greasy, but was full of flavor. The bonus is that it was rather quick and easy to make compared to making a ground beef and pork meatloaf. Thank you for another winner!

I've been searching for a good turkey meatloaf recipe for a long time, this is the best. I add diced crimini mushrooms in with the onions and garlic during the sautee step for some extra flavor and it's delicious.

My husband said “this is the best meatloaf I’ve ever had”. It’s not complicated and it didn’t dry out even using lean turkey. I omitted Worcestershire because I don’t like it, and the sauce turned out great!

I can't remember if I already posted a comment or not...
1. Because I've been making this for a couple of years now
2. Even if I did already post a comment, it is THAT good that it deserves another one!

This is an amazingly delicious recipe! My family absolutely loves it and even requests it for their special birthday dinners - even if we do have it at least once a month!

I make little "baby" meatloaves in muffin pans and cook for around 15-20 minutes or until the meat thermometer reads 165. Especially helpful on hot summer days when you really don't want the oven on. I do add 2 celery stalks, 3/4 bell pepper and 1 carrot (minced) to the mix because well, why not? Do yourself a favor and make this for your family (or yourself-it freezes well!) you won't be disappointed!

One of our favorite recipes for weeknight meals!

First time making a meatloaf I’ll let you know the results when I’m finished. Thank you very much for your input.
