This venison tacos recipe is absolutely loaded with flavor! Sweet pineapple, smoky chipotles, and perfectly seasoned ground venison come together in this easy recipe for homemade tacos. Serve with diced onion and fresh cilantro for a perfect bite every time!

Ground Venison Tacos

olive oil

TBSP minced garlic

venison

pineapple

chipotle peppers

taco seasoning

In a large skillet, heat 2 TBSP olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, stirring to coat, and cook until onions begin to turn soft and translucent, about 3 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add ground venison and cook until browned, about 10 minutes. Stir in crushed pineapple and chipotles in adobo (use only 2 for a milder heat or up to 4 for more spice). Allow juice to reduce slightly before stirring in orange juice and taco seasoning. Cook meat until thickened and saucy.

Serve in warmed tortillas with additional onion and cilantro, and a wedge of lime, if desired.

This is another easy way to prepare some of the leg roasts of venison that tend to be tough!

Slow Cooker Venison Carnitas Tacos or Tostadas

venison leg roast

Salt and black pepper

coriander

cumin

garlic

onion powder

Chili powder

dry adobo seasoning

Onion (quartered)

orange

vegetable oil

Tortillas

Lettuce (diced tomatoes, grated cheese, salsa, etc. for garnish)

Salt and pepper roast liberally. Place the roast in a slow cooker and top with the onion, orange and spices. Add about 2 cups water or stock to slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high 4 hours. Reserve liquid.

Once the meat is tender, remove from slow cooker and let cool slightly before pulling apart with a fork. After you shred the meat pour some of the pan juices on it so that the meat stays moist.

Optional

In a large saute pan, heat the olive oil over high heat. Press the carnitas into the oil and fry until crusty on one side.

Place about 1/2 inch olive oil in a small pan over high heat. Fry tortillas on one side for about 1 minute. Turn and fold in half. Fry on first side of folded tortilla then turn and fry on the other.

Place meat in tortilla. Serve with your favorite toppings. Lettuce, tomato, cheese, salsa, etc..
