Potato Chip Cookies

butter

butter flavored crisco

potato chips, crushed

Cream together butter, shortening, and sugar well.

Add vanilla and flour, then stir in potato chips.

Drop by teaspoonful onto cookie sheets. Press down with a fork.

Bake at 350°F for about 10 minutes or until browned around edges. These cookies do not spread while baking so you can put them closer together on cookie sheet. When done, dust with powdered sugar.

Wartime Ration Cookies

all-purpose flour

baking soda

shortening, room temperature

honey

maple syrup

eggs, room temperature

vanilla extract

walnuts

chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350°F and line two large cookie sheets with parchment paper, set aside.

In a large bowl whisk flour, salt, and baking soda, set aside.

In another bowl beat shortening until soft and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes.

Add in honey and maple syrup until incorporated, another 2 minutes.

Beat in eggs, one at a time, combining well after each addition. Scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl. Add in vanilla.

Gradually add the dry-ingredients until fully combined. Fold in the nuts and chocolate chips. This dough will look very soft.

Drop large teaspoon-sized portions of dough onto the trays, allowing for 2-inches of space between each cookie (the cookies will spread).

Bake for 7 to 10 minutes until the edges are slightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the pan for 5 to 9 minutes, before transfering to a wire rack or plate. These cookies are soft, so don’t try to remove them from the pan too early.

Eat warm or store cooled cookies in a plastic container. These cookies will last 3 to 5 days at room temperature or 7 days refrigerated.

Vintage Rocks Cookies are fast and easy to make and don't require any special equipment. A large bowl and a wooden spoon will work wonderfully well. After all, if it was good enough for grandma...

Thank you for posting this recipe. My siblings and I have many fond memories of helping Grandma make these and other cookies in her kitchen many years ago. These are so easy to make and they are delicious to eat!

My favorite cookie growing up! My mother made them I guess her mom got the recipe out of the newspaper. Very similar to yours but has added cloves too, my mom changed it up to do 1/2 raisins 1/2 dates and coconut! She kept them in the porch to keep them cold and that`s the only way I like them slightly frozen, as I would sneak and eat the cookies. My grandma only made them at Christmas my mother said, as they were expensive with all the nuts and fruit. Thanks for sharing their recipe.
