This Weet-Bix™ sliceis a fantastic treat for all the family.

Weet-Bix slice

Weet-Bix crushed

flour

tsp baking powder

tbsp cocoa

dessicated coconut

sugar

golden syrup

margarine

vanilla essence

icing sugar, sifted

water

Combine Weet-Bix, flour, baking powder, cocoa and coconut in a mixing bowl.

Place sugar, golden syrup and margarine into a saucepan and simmer until sugar is dissolved.

Pour the liquid blend over dry ingredients and mix together.

Press into a 20cm x 30cm lined baking dish.

Bake in a moderate oven, 180&deg;C, for 15 minutes or until firm. Remove from oven and cool.

To make icing combine icing sugar, cocoa and margarine in a bowl. Gradually add boiling water mixing until desired thickness is reached.

Weet-Bix slice 

With its coconut Weet-Bix base, this custard slice takes inspiration from the iconic nostalgic Aussie party food, fairy bread. Our favourite part about this dessert is combination of the thick, creamy topping with the biscuity texture of the base (and the colourful hundreds and thousands, of course!).

Weet-Bix, crushed

(2/3 cup) self-raising flour

(1/4 cup) caster sugar

(1/2 cup) desiccated coconut

butter, melted

(1/4 cup) hundreds and thousands

(1/2 cup) custard powder

310 milliliters (1 1/4 cups) milk

thickened cream

tube condensed milk

butter, chopped

4.40 gm vanilla extract
