A simple and fool-proof Wheat Bread Recipe that makes four loaves of bread in one batch. This recipe comes from my mom, and it's certainly a keeper!

Mom's 4 Loaf Wheat Bread Recipe

water

instant yeast

honey white sugar

salt

flour flour

Dissolve the yeast and honey in the warm water. Add the oil and salt and stir to combine.

Add 5 cups of the whole wheat flour to the bowl and stir to combine. Stir for 3 to 5 minutes.

Stir in the white flour, a cup at a time, until a smooth dough starts to form. You can use a stand mixer or your hands.

Knead the dough on a well-floured surface until the dough becomes soft and elastic and doesn&#8217;t stick to your hands. I like to knead this for 6-8 minutes by hand, it helps the end texture a lot to work the dough well!

Let the dough rise in the bowl until doubled, covered with a heavy towel or plastic wrap.

Once the dough has risen, divide it into four pieces. Shape the dough into loaves and place them in 4 greased loaf pans.

Let the dough rise in the pans until it is an inch above the rim.

Bake the bread at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. The crust will be golden brown and you&#8217;ll hear a hollow sound when you tap the bread with your fingernail.

Remove the bread from the oven, then remove the bread from the pans and place the hot loaves on wire racks to cool. Rub a stick of butter on the top of the hot loaves.

Allow the loaves to cool slightly or to room temperature before slicing and serving. Store cooled loaves in an air-tight container and use within 5 days.

I HALVED this recipe in the video, I'd recommend doing that, especially if kneading my hand. It's a lot of dough to work with a full batch. The half batch will make 2 loaves, full batch (this recipe as written) will make FOUR loaves, share or freezer for later as needed. ⁠

How to make SIMPLE TASTY Homemade Bread ~ NO butter, eggs, or milk! (Live playback)

If you're looking for a simple homemade bread with wholesome ingredients, this is it. It uses a combination of whole wheat and white flour, and it's sweetened with honey.

Honey Wheat Bread

milk ((115-120 degrees Fahrenheit))

water ((115-120 degrees Fahrenheit))

honey

Red Star Platinum Superior Baking Yeast

whole wheat flour

butter

bread flour

In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the warm milk, warm water, and honey. Sprinkle the yeast over top the liquids and let it sit for 5 minutes until it gets foamy.

Add the whole wheat flour and mix it into the liquids using the beater blade attachment just until the flour is moistened. Let that mixture sit for 10 minutes.&nbsp;

Next, add in the salt, butter, and the bread flour. Using the stand mixer with the dough hook attachment, beat the dough for 10 minutes. (If you don't have a stand mixer you can knead the dough by hand.)

Grease a large bowl and place the dough in the bowl. Cover the dough with a cloth and place the bowl in a warm place for the dough to rise. Allow the dough to rise until it is double in size.

Shape dough into two loaves and place them in greased 8x4" bread pans. Cover the dough and let them rise in a warm place for another 20 minutes or until they have a nice rise to them.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

For the softest crust, brush the top of the loaves with butter while they are still warm.

Allow the bread to cool and slice to serve.

Store any extra bread in an airtight container.

Honey Wheat Bread Recipe

Make your own whole wheat bread with this healthy bread recipe! It is the best way to enjoy fresh, healthy wheat bread that is cheaper and better than store-bought wheat bread.

Whole Wheat Honey Bread Recipe - 5 Loaves

Cups Whole Wheat Flour (freshly milled)

Cups Warm Water

⅔ Cup Olive Oil

⅓ Cup Honey

Eggs

Tablespoons Yeast

Tablespoons Dough Enhancer (optimal)

Tablespoons Lecithin (optimal)

½ Tablespoons Gluten (optimal)

Salt

Mix the first group of ingredients with half the flour in Bosch mixer and let sponge for 15 minutes.

Mix in remaining flour and the second group of ingredients until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the machine. 

Let the machine knead the dough for 5-7 minutes.  

Preheat oven to 350° F.

Remove the dough and shape into the loaf pans. Let rise for 30 minutes covered in a draft-free place or until doubled in size. 

Bake for 27 minutes.

For more information on mixing bread, refer to the instructions in &quot;Denise&#039;s Soft and Satiny Bread&quot; in the Bosch mixer.

Ovens will vary with temperatures and times for baking. A dark golden color is perfect. To test the bread for doneness take the loaf out of the oven and remove from the pan. Thump the bottom. If you hear a hollow sound it is perfect.
