This classic whiskey sour is made from scratch with fresh lemon juice simple syrup and a dash of egg has a full-bodied flavor, and lots of zing to compliment your favorite whiskey.

Whiskey Sour

oz bourbon (60 milliliters)

oz fresh lemon juice (22 milliliters)

oz simple syrup (15 milliliters)

oz egg white (14 grams, optional)

Angostura bitters

Pour the bourbon, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and egg white into a cocktail shaker.

Close and shake vigorously.

Strain the drink into a coupe glass.

Add a few splashes of Angostura bitters.

Combine ingredients into a shaker with one cube of ice. Shake for 30 seconds. Open the shaker, add in a heap of ice, close the shaker and shake again. This time for 30 to 60 seconds.  Alternately, shake with ice first to chill, strain into a chilled mixing glass or shaker and use milk frother for 10 to 15 seconds to build the foam. Strain into the cocktail glass whichever method you use. Strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a few drops of angostura bitters dropped on the top of the cocktail.

Make simple syrup by heating water and granulated sugar of medium heat until all sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat, add pomegranate seeds, and allow to cool completely. Run through blender and then strain through fine mesh strainer. Discard seed solid and keep the pink syrup.

To make the cocktail, combine bourbon whiskey, lemon juice, and pomegranate simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Vigorously shake until well combined, about 20 seconds. Strain into a low ball ice with extra large ice cubes.

Maple Whiskey Sour

tsp chipotle chili powder

oz Canadian rye whiskey

maple syrup

Coffee Pecan Bitters (Angostura will work)

Rub the lemon wedge in a wide stripe down the side of a coupe glass. Holding the glass over a side plate, dust with chipotle chili powder to create a red stripe.

To a cocktail shaker, add rye, lemon, maple syrup, and egg white. Shake hard without ice for 20-30 seconds. Add ice and shake again for another 20-30 seconds.

Strain into prepared glass. Garnish with three drops of bitters. Enjoy!

Combine the strawberries, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Allow berries to release juice by sitting in the liquid at least 30 minutes.

Add the strawberry mixture to the blender and run it on low (I used the sauce feature on my Blendtec). You can really blend it as much/little as you like, but I found this mode made it perfectly pulpy with a bit of foam. Add whiskey and swirl to combine.

Pour over ice and serve.
