Fill a glass with ice.

Pour Kahlua over the top of the ice until the glass is half full.

Then pour the vodka over the top of the Kahlua until the glass is 3/4 full.

Top off with the half and half.&nbsp;

No one can resist the call of a light chocolate sponge filled with whipped cream and covered in chocolate curls – aka a chocolate roulade. We&#8217;ve gone one step further and laced the cream with coffee liqueur and vodka for a white russian-inspired flavour. You’ll also need…

23cm x 33cm swiss roll tin, greased and lined with non-stick baking paper

Heat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan/gas 4. Using an electric mixer, beat the eggs and sugar in a large mixing bowl for about 10 minutes until doubled in size. Fold in the flour, cocoa, espresso powder and milk with a large metal spoon, pour into the prepared tin and level with a spatula. Bake for 10 minutes until risen and springy.

Lay a damp tea towel on the work surface and cover with a large sheet of non-stick baking paper. Dust the paper liberally with icing sugar then, in one swift movement, carefully and confidently turn the roulade out onto the sheet. Peel away the baking paper from the base of the sponge.

Using a sharp knife and being careful not to cut all the way through, score a line all the way along one short edge of the sponge, 1cm from the edge. Starting from this edge, roll the sponge tightly, using the paper and tea towel to help. Wrap in the tea towel and leave to cool completely.

For the filling, whisk the cream, Kahlúa, vodka and icing sugar in a bowl until just holding its shape.

Carefully unroll the cooled roulade and spread over the cream, leaving a 2cm border. Re-roll and dust with icing sugar. Decorate with chocolate curls and slice to serve.

Here's how to make a White Russian! This classic cocktail recipe starring vodka and Kahlua hits the spot anytime and in any season.

Classic White Russian

(4 tablespoons) vodka

(2 tablespoons) Kahlua (or other coffee liqueur)

(2 tablespoons) heavy cream

Ice, for serving (try clear ice)

Add the vodka and Kahlua to a low ball glass. Fill it with ice.

Top with the cream. Stir until cold (or stir just a bit to get the swirl effect).

To make the cashew cream: For ultra creamy results, soak the cashews in water for 2 to 4 hours. Drain them, then rinse the cashews under running water.

Place the drained cashews in your blender and add 1 cup of the water. Blend the mixture on high until the cashews are totally pulverized and the mixture is very creamy. Add the remaining 1 cup of water, the maple syrup and vanilla extract, and blend again. Taste, and blend in additional maple syrup if you&#8217;d like it to be sweeter. (If your cashew milk still has tiny bits of cashews in it, pour it through a fine metal sieve into a glass.)

To make a cocktail: Fill a short cocktail glass with ice. Pour in the vodka, followed by the Kahlua and cashew cream. Lightly swirl the contents with a spoon, and enjoy.

This Cinnamon White Russian is a perfect holiday party drink! with just four ingredients - vodka, coffee liquor, cinnamon simple syrup, and cream.

Make the Cinnamon Simple Syrup

Heat the water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks over medium high heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Simmer longer for more cinnamon taste.

Make the Cinnamon White Russian

Place an ice cube in each glass. Add ingredients in order listed. Swirl before and after adding the cream to get everything mixed together real nice. You can also mix the drink in a shaker with ice cubes to chill it faster.

I totally got into White Russians last month! Was on my first cruise and asked the bartender for something with Frangelica. He recommend a White Russian. It was fantastic. It was something like 1/2 part kahlua, and equal parts everything else. At least that's what I think he used. Either-way, its amazing, i've had a few in the last month at my in-laws. OMG!

Zomgosh. We had my good friend over for dinner last night. As we'd all skipped seeing each other over the holidays, this was our catch-up time. We decided on trying the cinnamon white Russian ahead of time, so my husband ran out to a hyper-local, wanky-doo distillery here to pick up coffee liqueur and house vodka as I made the cinnamon syrup. Let me just say...this is POTENT. We had difficulties hanging on to any logic whatsoever, which we sorely needed for our usual Catan game binge. It was hilarious. Next time, we won't be as generous with it. However...it is extremely delicious, and we enjoyed adding a splash of the cinnamon syrup to our coffee this morning. Nom. (One of these days we'll try your mint variation!)
