We like grilling because it's a no-fuss way to make a meal. This pleasing potato recipe is one we use often! The onion, cheddar cheese and Worscestershire sauce combine to make a super side dish for any grilled meat. Plus, cooking in the foil makes cleanup a breeze.

Needed a last minute potato recipe while camping. Had everything but the onions & fresh parsley so I subbed onion powder & dried parsley . These were delicious! I think I'll add a little more seasoning & Worcestershire sauce next time but otherwise very yummy and super easy!

To me these are epic fail.  Tried these last year and either I had to many in the package or the fire was not hot enough but one would think that after 30min on the grill they would be done.  Not so they were still raw even after 45 minutes and I had to finish them off in the oven.  Won't be having these again

I made this recipe for my family.  Everyone, even our picky eater, loved it!  I'm surely going to make this again!

On the grill or in the oven, these are awesome as is and I wouldn't change a thing.

I have been makikng this recipe for probably 15-16 yrs,  since I first found it in TOH.  It is wonderful cooked over a campfire and my pickiest eaters always want more!   Thanks for sharing this with us JoAnn!

We love this recipe, I do the same in the oven. The onions and minced jalapenos makes it really pop

I have been making these for years, since I first saw the recipe in TOH.  Our entire family loves them!  I don't grill mine; I cover them with foil and bake for 40 minutes on 425 degrees, then take the foil off and cook another 5 or 10 minutes.

Seeing as that my husband and daughter are meat and potatoes people they LOVED this. I do not care for potatoes in the least but I actually went back for seconds!

I didn't have enough space on the grill so I put it all in a 9x9 square baking dish. I baked it covered at 350 for 45 minutes, then removed the foil for a 10 minutes. Excellent!

I was disappointed...not much flavor.  If I made it again I would double or even triple the cheese mixture.

I make these all the time. Always a big hit.

This recipe sounds delicious.. I cooked the "campfire potatoes" on an actual campfire. I dont know what went wrong but they tasted so bad I couldnt even eat them.

I do potatoes similar to this (minus onion)  on the bbq quite often. I also do them in the oven if the weather is poor, but they do turn out the crispiest on the bbq.I grate my potatoes on the largest hole of my box grater, then toss them in a half olive oil, half melted butter, & chopped garlic mixture before addding them to the foil.  Before sealing the foil, I add a sprinkle of kosher salt & freshly ground black pepper for seasoning, a few more sprinkles of olive oil, & occassionally I'll add a bit of chopped fresh mint, or parsley.They're very good!

This is scallopped potatoes at their best. Not like gran's but ecellent.

Amazing! I baked these instead of doing them on the grill just because it seemed easier. Next time I'll add minced garlic. I used dried parsley, not fresh, because that's what I had.

I have made this sereral times in the oven.  It is easy to put together and very tasty.  I like that there is cheese but not an over powering amount and with all the other flavors going on it is really about tasty potatoes.  These potatoes compliment a variety of meat dishes.  I served this over Christmas week with Italian roast beef sandwiches then in the summer next to hot dogs and hamburgers.  I followed the recipe as is but since I made my in the oven it took just about an hour in the oven at 350 degrees. I placed the potatoes in my large glass pie plate and when it came out of the oven I set it on a hot pad and served from there --- easy clean-up too!
