(10-1/2 ounces each) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted

sour cream

Ritz crackers (about 25 crackers)

butter, melted

celery seed

parsley and sweet red pepper rings

This is a great base recipe because you can tweak it to fit your taste. That being said, I changed it a little by using onion and celery sauteed in butter, and added a little garlic to that. I put in about half a bag of frozen peas / carrots. Didn't have 2 cans of cream of chicken, so I had to substitute one with golden mushroom soup. This was really good, but since I live alone I cut the recipe in half. When my daughter had surgery, I cooked a full batch of this, and took it over to help out. My grandson just wolfed it down! She wanted noodles with her chicken, so I cooked up some noodles and put the casserole on top of that. I'm glad that I ran across this recipe again, because now it will be in my regular rotation. This was super yummy. We did end up adding about 1/4 to 1/3 cup milk to thin it out a bit. Served part of it over mashed taters then decided to do the leftovers as a dip during yesterday’s Chiefs vs. Browns game.

Your recipes do not list how many then serve. This would be a big help since I am only cooking for 2 and need to adjust the amounts used.

I usually double the amount of crackers for the topping. Yes, it is "bland", but in the same way macaroni & cheese is bland. There may not be a million flavors happening at once, but it is the definition of comfort food.

This dish is one of my favorites! It's great to eat when you're not feeling well or when you have lots of people over for a family dinner. Definitely a good dish!

This is definitely not heart healthy; but it sure is comfort food.    Here are my changes:  I sauted chopped onions and celery in 2 T. of butter before adding the other ingredients.  I also added frozen peas to make it a one pot dish; and to make it even more unhealthy, I added some cheese.   For the topping, I used 1/2 cup crushed crackers and 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs

This was an easy way to use leftover chicken.  I substituted cream of mushroom soup because that's all I had in the pantry.  Served it over rice & everyone enjoyed it.

Wonderfully tasty recipe and easy enough for my 12 year old daughter and I to make together! Used lemon pepper and fresh parmesian w/the crushed butter crackers. Rice would be wonderful, but couldn't convince my egg noodle loving family!

I ran across this in my Taste of Home magazine years ago and tried it out.  It's been a huge hit at family gatherings and food days at work.  There are never any leftovers!

This is a very easy recipe and very delicious!  The only thing I did different was I put a layer of rice underneath the chicken mix and I used saltines as that is all I had on hand.  I added the rice under before baking so the rice would absorb some of the flavor.  Very good flavor!

My family ate every bit of this. The changes I made were to add some dried parsley to the mix for color and instead of the crackers I used fried onions on top, like the kind you use for green bean casserole at Thanksgiving. Turned out great.

My father-in-law likes bland, so this is a good recipe for him.  I add some chopped leftover spaghetti and cheese to make an easy meal.  I make a smaller batch for just the 2 of us when I have a little leftover chicken.

I followed the directions exactly, but found this casserole to be too bland and lacking in flavor.
