Carol May 6, 2021, 9:28 am Reply Rating: 5 About how many people does this feed? Cindy February 22, 2021, 5:20 pm Reply Rating: 5 I do have a question. I kept the finished cake in the fridge until right before serving. It was very difficult to cut. Looked like a tornado hit it! Can it be left out at room temperature before cutting it? I was afraid it would “sag” or fall apart. Thanks for the great idea and recipes! Cindy February 22, 2021, 5:12 pm Reply Rating: 5 I made this today, using a Pepsi bottle. I was amazed at how easy it was! I substituted just a yellow cake and chocolate icing. My friends loved it! Karen Ede December 31, 2019, 4:30 pm Reply Rating: 5 It looks very yummy… I want to give this to my daughter to try she’s the cake maker.. Thank u for sharing this recipe! flutey September 30, 2019, 4:59 am Reply Rating: 2.5 I had trouble with the jelly which wouldn’t cut into circles and fell apart and then I struggled to get it out of the plastic bottle and the whole outside then broke up wouldn’t waste my time trying to make this again. If I could resolve the issues and figure out the correct recipe adjustment to make a 500ml bottle cake I would possibly try again then I wouldn’t be wasting so much food if it didn’t work. Ann October 7, 2019, 2:18 pm Reply Hi Flutey, To get the chocolate out of the bottle it needs to be a reasonably thick layer without any thin spots. It’s a bit like an Easter egg if you put pressure on it it will break, but the thicker the chocolate is the stronger it will be. For the jelly if you are having trouble you can try adding more gelatine, that will make it easier to handle – but also a firmer texture when you eat it. I like the jelly quite soft so you need to be gentle when handling it. Sue September 20, 2019, 11:52 pm Reply Rating: 4.5 Can I make some of the chocolate and jelly elements the day before I need to use it and then keep in the fridge Ann October 7, 2019, 5:26 pm Reply Hi Sue, Yes you can make the chocolate coke bottle part ahead and the jelly, the cake and the chocolate discs. You can concentrated the coke ahead for the coke cream, but don’t whip it with the cream until just before assembly.
