This is a favorite at potlucks and barbeques! I've often wondered if I get invited for my company or my Cola Beans! I've tried several different brands of colas, but have found that Coke&reg; works best. I like to pre-cook the bacon about half-way so it doesn't make the beans too greasy, but it's not necessary. This recipe can also be baked in a conventional oven at 350 degrees F for about 1 hour.

Cola Beans

(28 ounce) cans baked beans, drained

bacon

brown sugar

(12 fluid ounce) can cola soft drink (such as Coke®)

In a slow cooker, alternately layer the baked beans, bacon, and brown sugar. Pour in some of the cola with each layer, until all has been used.


Cover, and cook 8 to 10 hours on Low or 4 to 6 hours on High. (See Cook's Note for oven directions.)


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).


I cut the recipe in half & I used beans w/ onions added & highly recommend it. These have sooo much flavor!

I don't eat baked beans myself so I had to let hubby be the sole judge on this one. He found it to be incredibly bland and asked me not to waste the ingredients on this one again. He much prefers Baked Beans III from this site.

I love this recipe. I made it recently for a tailgate party and everyone loved them. Very easy to put together and smells great while cooking.

This wasn't my favorite baked beans recipe. Baked beans are already kind of sweet and the cola and brown sugar just overdid it for us. It also didn't seem very flavorful to me so I tried adding sauteed onions but it still wasn't that great. It was fun to try out cooking with cola though!

These were okay. I think giving them a 5 star rating is way overboard as they really were nothing special. In my opinion they taste just like some of the pricer baked beans out of the can. For the prepwork that I put into them I would rather have just bought a few of those canned beans heated them up and served them.

We thought these turned out very good. Great for a potluck dinner.

The beans turned out really good however they weren't much different than most canned baked beans. The cola seemed to make no difference. I don't know if I would make these again.

These baked beans get rave reviews every time I make them. It's so easy to put together. We're making them again for New Years Eve. Happy New Year everyone!

I am absolutely hooked on the taste that the cola gives these beans! I've tried them with Original Baked Beans and BBQ Baked Beans and the Original was better. Made them with BBQ Beef Sandwiches and loved dipping them in the sweet sauce! The best!
