Easy Tomato Bisque

<p>Too lazy to go to the store so I was looking for a recipe that I actually had the ingredients for in my house to go with grilled cheese and this was it! I didn't look at the other reviews but I should have, it was okay for a base recipe but I also added a can of petite diced tomatoes, worchestershire, more garlic, a bunch of seasonings, a beef broth cube and some brown sugar and after that it was pretty good.</p>

This soup was absolutely amazing!!  I added some Italian seasoning.  I used carnation instead of half and half (because that is what I had).  It was AWESOME!!  Can't wait to make it again.

I enjoyed this with my grilled cheese sandwich, but I it could really use more seasoning to give it some dimension.  I only used the 1/8 tsp cayenne, and that was okay for my wimpy taste buds.  :)

My absolute FAV soup recipe!!!! I originally followed every steps anmd it was so good I've made it over and over and now add extras like minced onion in with the garlic and butter step. I also added fresh pepper, thyme, basil, parsley and whatever other herbs I feel like at the time. SOOO SOOOO good. Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Bland! No flavor! I had to modify this heavily to have any flavor remotely close to bisque. After tossing the first batch, I made a blonde roux, added the garlic, then added half of a minced white onion. I then removed a cup of broth and replaced it with tomato puree, and added another can of diced tomatoes, 1/2tsp celery salt, 1/2 tsp Tony Cacheries seasoning, and used heavy cream instead of half and half. No Cayenne was added, either. Added parsley after it was in the bowl.

Don't do it.   Back away from the computer right now.  Go to any other soup recipe and try that.  This doesn't taste like anything.  You should be concerned about any bisque recipe that ignores both Jacques Pepin and Julia Child, and also that pretends that fresh tomatoes don't exist.  I had to put in almost 3 pounds of fress hot-on-the-vine tomatoes, a whole pile more garlic, Worsteshire sauce, and 3 read and 1 green pepper to make this taste like anything, and then I had to brown them on my BBQ grill for more than 20 minutes to get the needed effect.  Then I added the cream, like it says in Escoffier.  A bisque with no cream??? REALLY???  No fresh tomatoes, when they are so abundant? Really?  Stay away.  You could do better with a can of Campbell's sweetened condensed milk.

<p>This recipe was fantastic! My mom had never had tomato bisque and she had more than one bowl. In fact, everyone had more than one helping. I used fat free half and half, and added a little sugar to cut any acid in the tomato paste.  Would love to try this with fresh basil added.</p>

It was so good! I will definitely make this again. I served this with bruschetta seasoned with olive oil, parmesan, and garlic.
