Preheat oven to 400°F.
Step 2
Cook the ground beef and onions in a large skillet over medium heat for five to six minutes or until it is no longer pink (about 8-10 minutes). Break up large pieces with a meat chopper or potato masher. Drain any fat.

Add the taco seasoning and water to the beef, stir well to combine, then turn the heat down to low and allow it to simmer for 10 minutes.

Line a large-rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange half of the tortilla chips in a single layer of chips.

Spoon half of the beef mixture over the top of the chips.
Step 6
Sprinkle with half of the Mexican cheese, then half of the nacho cheese sauce.
Step 7
Repeat with another layer and the remaining ingredients.
Step 8
Bake the beef nachos in the oven for about 10 minutes.
Step 9
Remove and top with your favorite nacho toppings. Serve immediately.
