Quick Chicken and Dumplings

individually frozen biscuits

onion

green pepper

olive oil

chicken

(14-1/2 ounces each) reduced-sodium chicken broth

(4 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained

chicken bouillon granules

parsley

sage leaves

dried rosemary, crushed

pepper

I made This last night for dinner and it was amazing… i followed the recipe but I made a couple of adjustments as follows;
I used 1 cup fresh mushrooms chopped, and sautéed them with the onions. Then I used two teaspoons of chicken consommé granules, I omitted the green peppers and used 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables that were added when the broth and chicken was added. I dropped in the frozen uncooked biscuits when mixture came to a boil and  It took about twenty minutes at a simmer to cook frozen biscuits to perfection…
Delicious!!! Will make again for sure!

Great recipe!  Because I have to eat low sodium, I made biscuit with my low sodium baking mix.  Turned out great!  So glad you shared the recipe!

I'm giving this 5 stars even though I haven't tried it, just so I can balance out the negative person who has to give 1 star just to complain about a recipe they're not even going to try!  Really people, if it's not something you would even want to eat, why bother even commenting!  Go complain to someone who cares!

Could someone please clarify the biscuits?  Are they the uncooked individually frozen ones (like Grands in the freezer department) and if so do you thaw so that you can cut into 6 pieces?  Sounds quick and delicious but want to be sure I understand the biscuit part.  Thanks.

Wow... Just made this for dinner and it has become an instant family favorite. I made one change: I added 1 extra teaspoon of bouillon. Besides that, the recipe is perfect as is!

We really like this. My five year old daughter and picky husband said it was good.  I used poached chicken breast.  I sauteed the peppers and onion in oil and butter and added about a tablespoon of flour to create a roux.  I used herbs de provence and parsley. I used a 32 oz. container of broth and it was not too much liquid.   I did use 10 biscuits as was suggested by others.   I defrosted them in the microwave a bit so I could cut them.   It took 15-20 minutes to cook the biscuits all the way through.   All in all pretty good.  Might add carrots and celery next time.  Very quick and easy.

I agree with Marge, the recipe’s called "QUICK CHICKEN AND BISCUITS". Don't get hung up on what the email tease called it! It sounds quick, easy, yummy and very customizable to anyone's taste. I can't wait to try it!

This is FABULOUS! True comfort food! I use an entire rotisserie chicken, a whole onion diced finely sauteed with 8 oz. fresh mushrooms in lots of minced garlic .... I use 10 biscuits instead of 6 (since I LOVE those dumplings!), leave out the green pepper and add an extra can of chicken broth.  SO DELICIOUS! I make this all winter long! Definitely a KEEPER recipe!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!

Followed the recipe to the letter as I want to see how it was, plan on making it again with leftover turkey.    Made it on a Sunday night after 3 days of rain and it was true comfort food   Wonderful flavor, like it doesn't need cream or butter.  It is also nice to have the stuff on hand if you are expecting a snow storm.  Was easy to do and didn't need a lot of watching and fussing over, so I could make a salad to go with it.

Very good as well as being very quick and easy.  I used leftover baked chicken I had frozen and a can of jumbo biscuits rather than the frozen ones and left out the mushrooms because I didn't have any.  Great flavor and real comfort food on a cold winter night.

I live this recipe!  I tweak it a little to my family’s taste and they thoroughly enjoy it!!!

I tried this recipe a couple of months ago. Author is right -- it *is* quick and fairly delicious as well. I did not like the dumplings but that's probably because I used biscuits that come in the refrigerated section of the grocery store rather than the frozen that the recipe calls for. Also I cut the amounts in half since there are only two of us now. Other than that, tasty comfort food in a snap!

FYI caution that if cooked chicken is added and cooked more-it toughens. Except for this recipe, best to stir chicken in before serving if possible.

One of my family's favorite weeknight dishes. cazuhlke: I always use the frozen uncooked Grands biscuits and it turns out great ... just make sure that you don't uncover it too early. cathiemh: my husband is on salt restriction because of his heart and we have never had any problem with this recipe. The salt in the chicken is in the fat and skin, which you obviously remove and the broth cooks down nicely as well with the onions and peppers. I agree with Jenisl that you should really try something before giving such a low opinion.

My husband found this recipe I was gonna make chicken and Dumplings when I got off work. He thought this recipe would be quick. I did cook my own chicken instead of the rotisserie.  I liked the fact I did not have to mix up my own dumplings. I would recommend this recipe to anyone.

This is a great quick chicken recipe.  My whole family loves it especially the kids!

Quick and easy comfort food!  I added celery instead of green pepper and used my own cooked chicken.  Kid friendly and a family favorite.
