Step 1
Preheat oven to 200C. Place sausages on a tray lined with baking paper and cook for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, heat oil in a frypan over medium heat and cook onions for 8 minutes until well-browned.
Step 2
Place a 24cm springform tin without the base in it on a tray lined with baking paper. Grease the tin well.
Step 3
Cut hot dog buns through the middle, being careful not to cut all the way through. Place a little cooked onion in each bun, then top with a sausage. Drizzle tomato sauce over the top. Cut in half across-ways and place cut side down inside the tin, arranging the 16 cut, filled buns in a circular pattern. Add the cheese, pushing it down in between the buns and all over the top. Sprinkle the remaining onion over the dish.
Step 4
Bake for 20 minutes until buns are toasted and cheese has melted. Drizzle over extra tomato sauce and serve.
