Step 1

Preheat a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the olive oil and mix in the beef. Stir constantly until no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Transfer the beef into a large pot without draining.

Step 2

In the same frying pan, combine the onion, celery, and green pepper and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes. Season it with a bit of chili powder.

Step 3

Add the vegetables to the ground beef. Gently mix in the kidney beans, mushrooms, tomato soup, and canned tomatoes, careful not to squish the beans. Season with the remaining chili powder, oregano, salt, pepper, sugar, and garlic. Stir well to coat all the ingredients.

Step 4

Cover the pot and simmer over medium heat for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Remove the lid and simmer for 30 more minutes or until thick, stirring occasionally. Serve and enjoy!
