DUTCH APPLE BREAD

butter (1 cube)

sugar

eggs (large)

milk

tsp vanilla extract

all-purpose flour

tsp salt

tsp baking powder

green apple

walnuts

TBSP butter

flour

TBSP sugar

TBSP brown sugar

cinnamon

TBSP milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a bread pan with parchment paper or spray with non-stick cooking spray.

Cream butter and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add in eggs, milk and vanilla and stir to incorporate. Mix in flour, salt and baking powder. Fold in apples and nuts. Transfer mixture to prepared baking pan.

For topping, combine all ingredients and mix with a fork or pastry mixer until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter in pan.

Bake for 55-60 minutes, until toothpick inserted in bread comes out clean. (Internal temperature of bread will be 200 degrees F when fully cooked.)

Let cool. Remove from pan. Whisk glaze ingredients together until smooth and drizzle over top of bread. Slice and serve.

Store leftovers in an airtight container.

And the apple filling I'll use granny Smith cinnamon and pumpkin spice along with some agave nectar and butter in a saucepan to soften and sweeten the apple mixture...
And I usually make double the apple mixture too!

I've made this more than 5 times and every time was a winner. I have since modified just a little to accommodate 4 kids and a little healthier.  I now double the recipe always and have split the flour 1 c. whole wheat AND 1/3 c. white (double for doubled recipe). Brown sugar only, instead of white sugar. Also works for cupcake forms versus a loaf. Just reduce the bake time to around 30 min (toothpick test). Winner as original and winner with my modifications.

Made this today, and it came out great! I did substitute milk for the orange juice and I added nutmeg and clove to the apple mixture. It turned out great!! Great flavor, will definitely make again.

I thought that this was pretty tasty! I took mine out at 60 minutes and it was just slightly overdone - oven temperatures are finicky so checking on it every so often can help! I'm going to try again using someone else's suggestions below to give the batter a little more flavor. Copied and pasted here...

Wonderful recipe making it today for the third time!

A really good bread! I subbed apple cider for the orange juice to pump up the apple flavor. I added some chopped walnuts to the apple mixture and a pinch of salt to the dry ingredients. A keeper recipe.

Just tried this recipe for the first time and loved it! Took some of the recommended changes from others and it came out great.

This Brea was amazing  and so easy to  make! I will be making this for church brunch and for my husband he loved it 😊

This doesn't taste anything like bread. It is too sweet for bread. Apples are nice in it, but very heavy tasting.  An apple cake I made is much better .  I was looking for a bread recipe.

Very good with make this again for my grandchildren

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. &nbsp;Spray two 8X4 inch baking pans with nonstick cooking spray.

In a large bowl whisk together the first nine ingredients. &nbsp;In a separate bowl, mix eggs, oil, and vanilla. &nbsp;Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and combine. (The batter will be extremely thick). Mix in apples and 1 cup chopped pecans until evenly distributed through batter.

Spoon batter evenly into prepared pans and smooth out the top of batter with the back of a spoon. &nbsp;Bake in preheated oven for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean and edges of bread are just pulling away from baking pan.

Make The Bread:

In a heavy bottomed 2 quart saucepan, bring brown sugar, butter and milk to a boil over medium heat. Boil 1 minute, whisking constantly. Remove from heat.

Add vanilla and powdered sugar and using a hand-held electric mixer beat on medium speed until smooth. Pour half the glaze immediately over each loaf of cooled bread and sprinkle evenly with pecans.

Let cool.

Heat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 8.5&#39;x4.5&#39; loaf pan. Line the bottom and long sides with parchment, if desired, to create a sling to make it easier to remove the loaf after baking.

Add the dry ingredients (flour, oats, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt) to a large bowl and mix.

Whisk the oil, egg, honey, and milk in a quart glass measuring cup or a medium bowl. The honey may not completely mix in - do the best you can and try to get most of it mixed.

Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of the dry ingredients and mix with a spoon just until there are no flour streaks remaining (do not overmix). Gently fold in the apples and nuts, if using.

It didn't rise and not delightfully sweet, I used brown sugar. It was taste like a dense bread.
