How to make the BEST Hummus! This authentic hummus recipe is light and creamy and so easy to make! Use canned or dried chickpeas and serve it up with fresh garden veggies or a plethora of optional additions. Vegan, GF.

Perfect Hummus

lemon juice

tahini paste

garlic

olive oil

salt, more to taste

pepper (I love white pepper here, up to you)

teaspoon cumin

lemons (1-2 tablespoons blended in)

olive brine or caper brine (1-2 teaspoons blended in)

smoked paprika (1/2 teaspoon for smoky flavor)

zaatar or sumac -sprinkled over top

harissa paste – garnish

Romesco Sauce – garnish

Meyer Lemon Gremolata

Chimichurri Sauce (garnish)

Tender herbs- parsley, mint, dill, basil

toasted pinenuts – garnish

sesame seeds– garnish

marinated or warm roasted tomatoes- garnish

olives-create

warm ratatouille– garnish- pile it overtop.

feta cubes

Marinated Veggies

kalamata olives or jumbo Caperberries

BLEND HUMMUS: Place lemon juice, garlic cloves, tahini paste olive oil and water in a food processor&#8211; whip this up until creamy. Then add the salt, pepper, cumin, chickpeas and blend until really really smooth. Add more cold water, a tablespoon at a time until it is the consistency you like and blend the heck out of this! Blend for at least a full minute or two! Taste, adjust salt and lemon. Add any additions you like.

PLATTER

Spoon the ultra-creamy hummus into a wide shallow bowl or onto a plate or platter, creating a &#8220;well&#8221; for the olive oil (or other sauces) with the back of your spoon.

Add your toppings: 

If using garden veggies, peel the carrots, prep other veggies, cutting all into small bite-sized &#8220;crudites&#8221;  and arrange like the photos, tucking into the hummus -0r just play around with this and do your own thing.

Drizzle

with olive oil. Scatter with fresh herbs. Sprinkle with spices.

How to make the Best Hummus

An authentic hummus recipe that brings the heat. This spicy Lebanese hummus is a healthy dip perfect for snacking or serving at your next party!

Spicy Lebanese Hummus

can Chickpeas/Garbanzo Beans (Drained)

tsp Baking Soda

Clove Garlic (Minced)

Ice Cubes

¼ Cup Tahini Paste

Lemon

Cayenne Pepper

tsp Red Pepper Flakes

Paprika

tsp Dried Dill

Salt

Place the drained beans into a large bowl and cover with water. Then sprinkle the baking soda into the water. Stir to dissolve and allow to sit for 10 minutes. 

Next, under slowly running water take the skin off each chickpea by softly pinching the pea between your thumb and pointer finger. 

Once all of the chickpeas have been deskinned, add them to a food processor along with the garlic. Blend until well combined and in fine crumbles. 

Next add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor along with the ice cubes. 

Blend on high until very smooth, approx. 4 minutes. 

Serve immediately or store in the fridge for up to a week. Enjoy!

This homemade Hummus recipe is authentic, delicious, and better than anything you can buy! It&#39;s made with chickpeas (garbanzo beans), garlic, lime, tahini, and spices. You won&#39;t believe how easy it is to make!

Hummus

15 oz can chickpeas (garbanzo beans)* (, reserve liquid from can)

Tablespoons tahini*

garlic (, minced)

salt

sumac (,

lime

Prep Chickpeas: Drain the canned beans, reserving the liquid from the can. (See notes for using dry chickpeas*). If time permits, peel the outer skin away each individual chickpea. This will result in very soft and smooth hummus.

In a food processor add beans, tahini, garlic, salt, sumac, cumin, and juice from half of a lime. Blend well, adding small amounts of reserved bean liquid (or water), until you reach a smooth, creamy texture. Taste and add additional salt, if needed.

Garnish: Add mixture to a bowl and use a small spoon to make a swirl on top of the hummus . Drizzle a little extra virgin olive oil on top and sprinkle sumac around the edges. Squeeze additional 1/2 lime on top.

Enjoy with pita bread, pita chips, fresh veggies, on sandwiches, with gyros or chicken shawarma bowls.

Store leftover hummus in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
