I've made this multiple times for bacon jam boursin cheese burgers and it is DELISH every single time.

Awesome! Almost split the recipe in half- so glad I made the whole batch! I made it as the recipe says since I wanted it for my kiddos too....but added a few red pepper flakes on the adult’s batch. Nice heat.  I used it for a dinner of Bacon Jam Goat-cheese burgers.  They were so yum!  Looking Forward to using the other half on homemade biscuits this weekend!! Thanks for the recipe!! ...it will definitely be in rotation with my other jams :D.

Super easy and was a total hit. I had some leftover homemade bread and used the jam coupled with a Parmesan/Asiago cheese spread to make an awesome bruschetta. Now will be a mainstay!

Absolutely amazing!! I added about 2 tbsp. of chopped pickled jalapenos to give it a little kick. Served on hamburgers on bricohe buns with crumbled goat cheese. My family could not stop raving about it. Highly recommend!

I bet this would be a great addition to a cheese board platter.

Good base, but way to much extra favour with the sause. I would cut it by 3/4s, if not exclude it entirely

Bacon Jam Makes Everything Better

<p>This Bacon Jam recipe is literally the best in the world. I know that's a HUGE statement, but I've been told that so many times that I have to believe it. It's made by slowly simmering bacon, onions, brown sugar, and spices until they become thick and jam-like. We love to serve it as an easy to make appetizer with cheese and crackers.</p>

The Best Bacon Jam

lb. thick cut bacon

sweet onions,

brown sugar (use coconut sugar

water

coffee

balsamic vinegar

Cut the bacon into half-inch slices and add them to a large frying pan. Don&#8217;t worry if the bacon pieces stick together, they will come apart as they cook. Cook over medium-high heat for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently until the bacon is cooked but still quite chewy. A few crispy bit are ok. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon from the pan.

Pour out all but 1 tablespoon of the bacon drippings. Add the onions to the pan and cook for about 8-10 minutes then reduce the heat to low. Add the sugar and stir. Continue to cook until the onions have caramelized, about 20 minutes.

Add the reserved bacon, coffee, and water and increase the heat to medium. Continue to cook, stirring about every five minutes, until the onions are thick and jam-like, about 30 minutes. Remove from heat and stir through the balsamic. Taste for seasoning and salt if necessary.

Use immediately or refrigerate for up to a week. Bring back to room temperature before serving. There will be little spots of white fat when you take it out of the fridge. As the jam comes to room temperature, these will disappear.

As a 72 year old I never thought I’d find way to cook bacon that I never tried . My wife and I don’t like sweet things so much; especially after Christmas cookies and candy. That’s why I didn’t use sugar in my version. The carmalized onion added the perfect level of sweet. I also subbed cider vinegar for balsamic. Did use 1/4 cup bourbon and coffee, and just a bit of Aleppo pepper. Can’t wait to try this on an egg salad sandwich and about a million other things. Always on the lookout for new things to try and this is like finding a gold nugget in a muddy stream. Cook on!   Jim 

Oops! I am currently making this and the bacon is all on the crispy side.  I guess I’ll have to get the hang of cooking the bacon! Hopefully it doesn’t effect the taste or consistency. But looks delicious! 

This recipe is amaaaaaaazing!!! I made it as a surprise for my husband because his favourite burger has bacon jam on it and now I'm pretty sure I'll be making this at least once a week for the rest of our lives. I've tried hundreds of online recipes and they never live up to my expectations but this bacon jam has taken my breath away. Thank you thank you thank you for sharing this with the world!!

I just finished making this, put it on toast points with and without different types of cheeses as well as plain. Even my fussy husband said oh my goodness, that’s good stuff. 
My only question I gave is when you have cooked the bacon , remove most of the fat , placing the onions in the pan do you ever cove them?

Amazing.  Included a splash of bourbon to deglaze the bacon fat (took a sip as well) and then put in the sliced onions. Some fresh diced chili did not harm and added another delicious detail to an already fantastic recipe. Thanks and greetings from Brazil

Hello I added the water as mentioned although it is not listed in the ingredient list. Are there any spices I'm supposed to include in this recipe?

I never got the onions to caramelize  did exactly as recipe said very disappointed!@@

Made this tonight and it was delicious.  I decided to add some finely chopped garlic and a seeded jalapeño in the last few minutes of step 1, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly.  

It was a little sweet, so I think I’ll cut the sugar in half next time, but definitely a great recipe.

This bacon jam is delicious!!! A staple for our Fall/Winter cocktail parties. Seriously! Guests request it.  We serve with Cambozola cheese and rosemary/raisin crackers from Trader Joe’s.

I have never had or made bacon jam so I have nothing to compare it to.

As a lover of all things bacon I have tried other recipes. All failed to excite. Then I tried your recipe. My life has now found purpose.  I was skeptical when I saw the title "The Best Bacon Jam ". The title is exactly correct! Made a single batch for topping burgers. Not sure if there will be any left by the time the burgers are done! Absolutely amazing!

I made some last night and it was great.  Didn't have dark brown sugar so it has beautiful Carmel color.

Do you prefer brown sugar or maple syrup?

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy. Transfer bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, reserving about a tablespoon of bacon fat in the pan.

Reduce heat to medium-low. Add onion and shallots to the pan and cook, stirring often, until the onions are caramelized, about 15 minutes.

Stir in garlic, brown sugar, maple syrup, vinegar, chili powder and cooked bacon. Bring mixture to a simmer then reduce heat to low. Cook until the liquid has reduced and thickened and the onions are jammy, 7 to 10 minutes.

Let cool before transferring to a jar. Serve with cheese and crackers. (It’s also delicious on a burger!)

You can’t go wrong with anything that contains bacon and maple syrup.  Yummy BUT it was very sticky, almost like toffee. Did I cook it too long?

I realized I didn't have any Chili Powder when I started making this recipe. BUT it is delicious without it.
Can't wait to get some Chili Powder to see what it will transform into. Going to spice it up a little with some Jalapeno Peppers next time.

I made this recipe over the thanksgiving weekend and poured over smoked cream cheese.  We also ate it on chicken salad crackers.  My travel group has nicknamed this jam as the stuff that goes on everything.  The only change I made was I used 2 onion as I didn't have any shallot.

I made this. It was really good. The only thing I added was powdered ghost, scorpion, and habanero peppers. I love hot hot peppers! Yum.

If it wasn't for bacon jam I would still hate brussel sprouts. I make this and add to brussel sprouts. I like to roast in kabob style. Great recipe and everyone right you need to double or triple this recipe.

Only three ingredients needed for one seriously delicious appetizer. 

Brown Sugar Bacon Little Smokies

(16 oz) package little smokies sausages

lb thin-cut bacon,

brown sugar, packed

black pepper,

Grease a baking dish or sheet pan with nonstick spray and preheat oven to 350°F. (You can alternatively line pan with foil, if desired.)

Pat sausages dry, then wrap each sausage with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick.

Add brown sugar to a large zip-top bag. Add a few of the bacon wrapped sausages and shake to coat. Remove sausages, place on prepared pan, and repeat with remaining sausages.

Season sausages with black pepper, if desired.

Bake until bacon has browned, 30-35 minutes. If crispier bacon is desired, broil for a few minutes to brown. Enjoy!
