Balsamic Strawberries With Greek Yogurt

strawberries (1 pint)

maple syrup

balsamic vinegar

Greek yogurt

honey

mint leaves

pepper

Balsamic Strawberries with Greek Yogurt

For the berries: Wash the strawberries and slice them. In a small bowl, mix the berries with 2 tablespoons maple syrup and 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar. Let sit (macerate!) for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Prior to serving, add a few grinds of fresh pepper.

In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt and about 2 tablespoons honey, or more or less to taste.

To serve, place a dollop of the yogurt in a bowl. Top with berries and mint.

I agree with your comments about more garlic and ginger.  Turmeric is another spice used abundantly in regular Indian cooking.

Enjoy this simple 5-minute dessert recipe for Balsamic Strawberries with basil as is or combine it with a wide variety of foods from breakfast to dessert to create unique serving combinations. 

Balsamic Strawberries with Basil

strawberries (washed, hulled and halved (or quartered if large))

basil leaves (fresh)

balsamic glaze (room temperature)

Place the hulled and sliced strawberries in a large bowl.  

Stack the basil leaves on top of each other, roll them up into a bundle. Use a very sharp knife to create thin slices. When you pull them apart, they should look like tiny green ribbons.

Gently combine the sliced basil with the strawberries with a rubber spatula. 

Divide into 4 dessert dishes. 

Drizzle each bowl with 1 teaspoon of balsamic glaze and serve immediately. 

Can be enjoyed as is or as a topping on yogurt, ice cream, pancakes, crepes, angel food cake, etc... for detailed serving options, please refer to the article.
