Layered banana split protein smoothies perfect for after a workout or as a late-night treat. They taste exactly like a banana split! Great drizzled with a little peanut butter or topped with coconut whipped cream.

Layered Banana Split Protein Smoothie

For the chocolate layer:

banana

vanilla protein powder

cocoa powder (or raw cacao powder)

chia seeds

For the banana layer:

For the strawberry layer:

Make the chocolate layer first: In a blender, add in frozen banana, protein powder, cocoa powder, chia seeds and milk. It should be THICK. Divide between 2 medium glasses and place in the freezer.

Rinse the blender, then make the banana layer by adding frozen banana, protein powder, chia seed and milk. Blend until thick, smooth and creamy.&nbsp;

Gently layer banana smoothie onto chocolate smoothie, gently spooning it around the inside edge of the glass. Place glasses back inside the freezer.

To make the strawberry layer: Blend strawberries, protein powder and almond milk together. Again, you want this to be pretty thick, but you may need to add in more almond milk to make it blend.&nbsp;

Once strawberry smoothie is thick and creamy, gently spoon it over the chocolate layer. Place glasses back in the freezer again for a few minutes, then enjoy!

Decadent but healthy 9-ingredient banana split smoothie with frozen banana, cacao powder, and almond butter! Creamy, rich, so satisfying.

Banana Split Smoothie

bananas ((ripe, peeled, sliced and frozen))

Tbsp cacao powder ((or cocoa powder))

Tbsp salted almond butter ((if unsalted, add pinch sea salt))

almond milk ((more

tsp vanilla extract

dates ((optional // for extra sweetness))

whipped cream

Ripe cherries

Tbsp coconut

Tbsp cacao nibs

Add frozen banana, cacao powder, almond butter, and almond milk to a blender and blend on low until thick and creamy (see photo), scraping down sides as needed. You are looking for a soft serve consistency.

Add vanilla extract, dates (optional), and a bit more almond milk and blend once more until thick and creamy and well blended. Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more almond butter for nuttiness, vanilla extract for vanilla flavor, salt for flavor balance, or cacao powder for more intense chocolate flavor. Set blender in freezer or refrigerator while preparing serving glasses.

Cut a banana in half lengthwise and peel. Then slice in half lengthwise again (so you have four pieces). Slide banana wedges down into two serving glasses (or 1 large serving glass, as pictured // amounts as original recipe is written // adjust if altering batch size), and press with a spoon to “adhere” to the sides.

Add smoothie and top with desired toppings, such as coconut whipped cream, cherries, shredded coconut, and cacao nibs (I highly recommend all!).

Best when fresh but can be covered and frozen up to 2 days. Let thaw before enjoying.
