10-minute Bananas Foster recipe made with bananas, easy caramel rum sauce, and vanilla ice cream. This New Orleans-inspired bananas foster flambe is a secret weapon of any date night.

Bananas Foster

Tbsp Unsalted Butter

Tbsp Brown Sugar

Cinnamon (or cinnamon stick)

Bananas (sliced lengthwise)

Tbsp Dark Rum (or bourbon)

oz scoops Vanilla Ice Cream

Tbsp Pecans or Walnuts (chopped)

Melt BUTTER in skillet over medium heat.

Add BROWN SUGAR and CINNAMON, stirring until sugar dissolves.

Add BANANAS and cook a few minutes on both sides until softened.

Turn off stove burner and pour in RUM.

Turn burner back on and allow sauce to cook a few minutes, stirring as needed, then serve.

If you don&#039;t want to ignite / flambe

Option 1) Gas stove burner: Turn burner on and adjust to LOW heat. Carefully tip the skillet into the flame to ignite the alcohol, shaking the pan around to baste the bananas until the flame burns off.Option 2) Match or lighter: Keep stove burner off and use a long match or lighter to ignite the alcohol, shaking the pan around to baste the bananas until the flame burns off.

To make banana flambe, there are 2 ways you can ignite the flame. BE CAREFUL either way and do not stand over the skillet.

Serve bananas and sauce in the warm skillet or transfer to a bowl. Add ICE CREAM and PECANS.

Bananas foster upside down cake features all the flavors of your favorite caramelized banana dessert in a decadent sheet cake. This boozy, caramelized, fruit filled cake in a gorgeous presentation is the stuff dessert dreams are made of!

Bananas Foster Upside Down Cake

bananas,

tbsp butter

brown sugar

cinnamon

nutmeg

dark rum

flour

tsp baking powder

sugar

tsp salt

eggs seperated

pineapple juice

tsp vanilla extract

butter, melted & cooled before use

In a large skillet, over medium low heat, stir together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and rum until the butter melts, sugar dissolves, and everything's evenly combined. Stirring occasionally, bring the mixture to a light simmer.

While waiting for the mixture to come to a slow simmer, prepare an 11x7" brownie pan by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray. Place the bananas evenly out into the pan without overlapping.

Pour the buttered rum sauce evenly out over the bananas, and set the pan aside.

To Make The Sauce

To a large mixing bowl, add the flour, baking powder, sugar, &amp; salt. Whisk together until evenly combined.

To the bowl of a stand mixer, add the egg yolks. Beat them at high speed for 2-3 minutes or until smooth and creamy. Reduce the speed to low, and pour in the juice and extract, mixing just until combined. Continuing to let the mixer run, slowly pour in the butter, mixing until combined.

A little bit at a time, pour in the flour mixture, and continue until it's all been added and the batter is smooth. Set that mixing bowl aside.

To another stand mixing bowl (or in a separate mixing bowl using a hand mixer), add the egg whites and whisk at a medium high speed- just until stiff peaks form. Fold the whipped egg whites into the batter, just until evenly combined.

Using a spatula, scrape the batter out of the bowl pouring it evenly out over the bananas. Gently spread to evenly coat the pan.

Bake the cake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick to the center comes out clean. Remove the cake from the oven, and let it cool for 15 minutes. Working quickly, but carefully, turn the cake out onto a serving platter, cutting board, or metal cooling racks. Continue to let the cake cool for another 15 minutes.

Use a sharp knife to cut the cake into squares for serving. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert, or with a hot cup of coffee for breakfast.

To Make The Cake

Made with only a handful of ingredients, this Bananas Foster recipe comes together quickly and easily. Bananas coated in a sweet sauce then flambéd, you'll love this simple but elegant dessert.

unsalted butter (1 stick (113 grams))

dark brown sugar ((165 grams))

bananas (halved lengthwise)

rum ((80 milliliters))

vanilla ice cream (to serve)

In a large saucepan or skillet, heat butter, sugar, and cinnamon over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring often until butter is melted and mixture is bubbly, about 4 minutes.

Add bananas. Cook, gently stirring often, until tender, about 4 minutes.

Add the rum and remove from heat. Using a long lighter or long match, carefully ignite rum, swirling pan constantly, until flames die out, about 30 seconds. (If you feel unsafe doing this step, simply add the rum and continue cooking for about 1 minute before removing it from the heat.)

Serve immediately over ice cream.
