basic tomato sauce

This recipe tastes fresh, tangy, and has so many uses!

Basic Tomato Sauce

olive oil

onion

garlic (minced)

can whole tomatoes (with juices)

basil

parsley (chopped)

salt & pepper

Combine olive oil and onion over medium heat. Cook until onions start to soften. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.

Gently mash the tomatoes with your hands and add to the pan with juices. Stir in basil.

Simmer 20 minutes adding water if needed to reach desired consistency. Optional: Once thickened, use a hand blender to blend the sauce to desired consistency.

Stir in parsley. Taste sauce and season with add salt &amp; pepper.

Pour can in a bowl and crush tomatoes with clean hands.

In a saucepan, cook onion with garlic in oil over medium heat, without browning. Season with salt and pepper.

Add tomatoes. Stir and bring to a boil. Let simmer for about 30 minutes. Adjust seasoning. Watch out for splashes! You can use a splatter screen to place on the saucepan.

Quelqu'un peut me dire combien de temps cette sauce se conservera au frigo? Merci.

doit on mettre le jus des tomates ou seulement les tomates en morceaux?

J'ai ajouté un peu de piments broyés et j'ai utilisé des tomates broyées ! Un délice!

Est-ce possible  de l'encanner ou c'est préférable de congeler?

J'ai doublé la recette pour en congelé la moitié.

Très bon, simple et versatile! Je l'ai passé au pied mélangeur après la cuisson, personnellement je préfère les sauce plus lisse.  J'ai également ajouté du basilic frais à la fin!  Ma fille en redemande!

Très facile à faire et très bonne sauce, j'ai rajouté des fines herbes par contre.

Personellement j'aime mieux quand il y a un peu de basilic!
