Fresh and flavorful Crockpot Beef Carnitas are always a hit and simple to prepare! Serve this spiced and shredded beef in tacos, on salads, and more.

Crockpot Beef Carnitas Recipe

Combine

In a small bowl, combine all of the spices (salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cumin, oregano, and red pepper flakes) together. Set aside until ready to use.

For the Dry Rub

Season

Pat the chuck roast cubes dry with a paper towel and season them on all sides with the dry rub, making sure each piece is evenly coated.

Add the seasoned beef to the crockpot along with the beef stock, sliced onion, garlic, and bay leaf.

Cook

Cover and cook on high for 4 hours, or low for 6 hours, or until the beef easily shreds with a fork.

Shred

Drain the beef and remove the garlic and bay leaves. Shred the beef using a knife or 2 forks.

Heat

Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and add the olive oil. Once the skillet is hot, add the beef and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes or until the beef is browned and crisp in some areas.

Serve

Remove the beef from the skillet. Serve immediately in tacos or on top of a salad with your favorite toppings.

With very little prep time, these Mexican-inspired Beef Carnitas are so incredibly tender, and extremely flavorful, with a touch of crispiness. They are perfect for tacos, burritos, quesadillas  or even on top of nachos.

Homemade Cajun Seasoning is easier and faster to mix together than running to grab it from the grocery store. Made with pantry staples, these typical ingredients mixed together creates a blend so much greater than the sum of its parts. You&#39;ll be sprinkling it on every meal you make!

Preheat the oven

Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 300°F.

Combine ingredients

Combine ingredients: Place the meat in a Dutch oven or oven safe pot, and add the beef, peppers, onion, juice from the orange and the remaining orange halves, Cajun seasoning, jalapeños and water. You should have enough water to cover everything in the pot. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Cook: Cover the pot and place it in the oven and cook for 3 hours or until the meat falls apart when prodded with a fork. You can also cook this on the stovetop over low heat for 4 hours.

Remove the meat

Remove the meat: Remove the meat from the pot using a slotted spoon and place it on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Remove everything else from the pot except the liquid using a slotted spoon and discard. Cook the liquid over medium high heat for 20 minutes or until it reduces to about a cup.

Shred the meat

Shred the meat: Using 2 forks, shred the meat into smaller pieces. Pour the reduced liquid over the shredded meat.

Broil meat

Broil meat: Place the baking sheet under the broiler for about 5 to 10 minutes or until browned and crispy. Watch it so that it doesn&#39;t burn, each oven is different. Flip the meat and broil for another 5 minutes until brown and crispy.
