A delicious spice cake made with applesauce so it&#x27;s super moist! Frosted with cream cheese frosting! This recipe makes enough batter for three 6&quot;x2&quot; cake rounds or two 8&quot;x2&quot; cake rounds.

Applesauce Spice Cake

oz unsalted butter (softened)

oz sugar

oz oil

egg (room temperature)

oz cake flour

tsp baking soda

cloves

tsp nutmeg

tsp ground ginger

cinnamon

tsp salt

oz applesauce (unsweetened)

vanilla

oz cream cheese (softened)

tsp orange extract

Preheat oven to 350º F/176º C. Prepare your pans with cake goop or another preferred pan release.

Sift together your flour, baking soda, spices and salt.

In the bowl of your stand mixer, cream the butter until smooth with the whisk attachment.

Sprinkle in sugar and whip on high until white and fluffy (2-3 minutes). Add in your oil and whip another minute.

Switch to the paddle attachment. Add in the egg and vanilla and mix until combined.

Add the flour mixture and mix until it is just incorporated, do not over mix!

Finally, add in your applesauce and mix until everything is combined.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Smooth the tops with a rubber spatula. Bake cakes until they feel firm in the center and a toothpick comes out clean or with just a few crumbs on it, about 25-35 minutes.

Applesauce Cake Instructions

Place softened butter in the bowl of your stand mixer with whisk attachment and cream on low until smooth. Or you can use a hand mixer!

Place softened cream cheese in the bowl with butter in small chunks and blend on low until smooth and combined

Add your orange extract and salt. Add in sifted powdered sugar one cup at a time and mix until combined

A moist applesauce cake recipe spiced with cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and frosted with cream cheese frosting and a salted caramel drip. This applesauce cake recipe blew me away! Each bite was spiced apple heaven and I didn’t want to stop eating!

A chocolatey Guinness cake and ganache are layered together and covered with Baileys buttercream frosting in this luxurious Guinness Chocolate Layer Cake! The cake is super moist and fluffy and the flavors are to die for!

Guinness Chocolate Layer Cake

(260 grams) all purpose flour

(414 grams) sugar

(85 grams) natural unsweetened cocoa powder

salt

eggs

(240 milliliters) milk

(240 milliliters) vegetable oil

(300 milliliters) Guinness, divided

oz (1 1/2 cups) semi-sweet chocolate chips

tbsp (60 milliliters) Guinness

tbsp (30 milliliters) heavy whipping cream

unsalted butter

(1150 grams) powdered sugar

(120 milliliters) Baileys Irish Cream

Salt,

Prepare three 8 inch cake pans with parchment paper circles in the bottom, and grease the sides. Preheat oven to 300°F (148°C).

Add the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt to a large bowl and whisk together.

Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

Add one cup of Guinness and mix until well combined.

Divide batter evenly between cakes pans and bake for 33-37 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs.

Remove cakes from oven and allow to cool for about 5 minutes, then remove to cooling racks to cool completely.

To make the chocolate ganache, add the chocolate chips to a medium sized bowl (see my tips on making chocolate ganache).

Heat the Guinness and heavy whipping cream just until it begins to boil, then pour it over the chocolate chips. Allow it to sit for 2-3 minutes, then whisk until smooth. Set aside to cool a bit.

When the cakes have cooled, make the buttercream frosting. Add the butter to a large mixer bowl and beat until smooth.

Add about half of the powdered sugar and beat until well combined and smooth.

Add about half of the Baileys and beat until well combined and smooth.

Add the remaining powdered sugar and beat until well combined and smooth.

Add additional Baileys until it reaches the right flavor and consistency. Add salt to taste.

To build the cake, use a large serrated knife to remove the domes from the top of the cakes so that they’re flat. These cakes don’t have a large dome, but I like to make sure they’re completely flat.

Place the first layer of cake on a serving plate or a cardboard cake round. Brush the cake with 2 tablespoons of Guinness.

Spread about 1 cup of frosting on top of the cake layer, then pipe a dam around the outer edge, on top of the frosting.

Fill the dam with 5-6 tablespoons of chocolate ganache and spread evenly on top of the frosting.

Add the second layer of cake on top and brush with the remaining 2 tablespoons of Guinness.

Add another layer of frosting and chocolate ganache, then top the cake with the final layer of cake.

Frost the outside of the cake with the remaining frosting. Feel free to use my tutorial for frosting a smooth cake.

Use the remaining chocolate ganache to drizzle around the outside of the cake. Feel free to use my tutorial for how to make a chocolate drip cake. Pipe swirls of frosting around the outer edge of the cake to finish it off.

Store cake in an airtight container. It&#8217;s best if eaten within 4-5 days.

This was a big hit for my son’s 40th birthday! I had a bag of Baileys chocolate chips for the ganache. The cake had a nice texture and was very moist. Everyone loved the yummy Baileys buttercream. I made this a week ahead and froze it to save time, and it was perfect.

oz vegetable oil (1/2 cup)

tsp vanilla extract

cocoa powder

oz milk

oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

heavy cream

oz semi-sweet chocolate

oz heavy whipping cream

Heat oven to 350ºF and prepare two 8” cake pans with cake goop or another preferred pan release 

Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in the bowl of your stand mixer with the paddle attachment. Mix on low 5 seconds just until combined. 

Add in the eggs, buttermilk, oil and vanilla and mix on medium speed for 2 minutes. Scrape the bowl.

Turn the mixer down to low and add in the hot coffee and mix until just its just combined. 

Pour the batter into your prepared cake pans.

Bake the cakes for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool the cakes in the pan for about 15 minutes (or until the pan is barely warm to the touch) then invert onto wire racks to cool completely before frosting. 

Easy chocolate cake instructions

Heat the cream until just steaming and pour over chocolate (or microwave your milk and chocolate together for 1-2 minutes until steaming) Let it sit for 5 minutes and whisk until smooth.

Place the softened butter in the bowl of your mixer with the whisk attachment and whisk until smooth

Sift the cocoa powder and sugar into the butter and continue whisking. It will by dry and crumbly at first, keep going until smooth

Add in the milk 1 Tbsp at a time. Then vanilla and salt. Whisk on high until fluffy. 

whisk in the cooled ganache. Frosting is swill be softt. Chill for 20 minutes if you want it firmer. 

Fudge Buttercream Instructions

Heat the cream until just steaming and pour over the chocolate (or microwave your milk and chocolate together for 1-2 minutes until steaming) Let it sit for 5 minutes and whisk until smooth. Transfer to another bowl and let cool to 90ºF before piping onto the cold cake.
