This Indonesian fried recipe recipe (Nasi Goreng) is a favorite with stir fried rice tossed with kecap manis, a sweet soy sauce, birds eye chilies and more.

Nasi Goreng Recipe (Indonesian Fried Rice)

vegetable oil

red chili peppers peppers

shallot (minced)

garlic (minced)

eggs (I like to use extra)

rice

onion

soy sauce (or more to taste)

kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)

shrimp paste

Peppers and Shallot

Heat the oil in a large pan or wok over high heat. Add the peppers and shallot. Cook for 2-3 minutes to brown slightly.

Garlic

Add the garlic and cook another 30 seconds, stirring.

Eggs

Add the eggs and scramble them up. Cook them for 30 seconds to 1 minute, stirring, until the eggs cook mostly through.

Stir Fry

Lower the heat to medium-high heat and add the cooked rice, green onion, soy sauce, kecap manis and shrimp paste. Season with salt to taste. Stir fry the rice until the rice starts to caramelize, 2-3 minutes, scraping up the bottom of the pan as you go to avoid burning.

Garnish and Serve

Garnish with cucumber and tomato and serve!

Indonesian Fried Rice Recipe - Nasi Goreng

Ingredients

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1-2 spicy red chili peppers use your favorites – birds eye peppers are nice an spicy here, or use cayenne
1 large shallot minced
6 cloves garlic minced
2 large eggs I like to use extra
3 cups cooked rice
1 green onion sliced
2 tablespoons soy sauce or more to taste
2 tablespoons kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
1 teaspoon shrimp paste
Seat salt to taste

This Fried Rice is my NEW Obsession - Indonesian Style

These spicy Thai noodles are quick and easy to make with noodles, peppers, and shrimp tossed in a simple Thai-style sauce, and easy to customize!

Easy Thai Noodles Recipe

soy sauce

fish sauce

sriracha (or use chili-garlic sauce)

lime juice

honey (or use palm sugar)

minced garlic (or more to taste)

dry rice noodles

vegetable oil (divided, + more as needed)

shrimp

bell peppers

6-8 bird’s eye chilies (chopped (optional, for spicy))

baby bok choy (sliced)

peanuts

cilantro (extra crumbled roasted peanuts, chili flakes)

Sauce

Make the Thai noodle sauce by whisking the ingredients together in a small bowl. Taste and adjust. Set aside.

Noodles

Prepare the rice noodles according to the packaging directions. Set into a bowl and toss with 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. This will keep it from clumping.

Heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a wok or large pan to medium-high heat.

Shrimp

Add the shrimp and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until pink and cooked through. Set aside onto a plate. Do this in batches if needed.

Vegetables

Add more oil to the wok if needed at medium-high heat. Add the chilies, bok choy, and peanuts, and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until softened to your liking.

Stir

Stir in the reserved sauce and noodles. Stir fry for 1 minute to heat through.

Warm

Reduce the heat, then add the shrimp and warm through 1-2 minutes.

Serve

Serve with fresh cilantro, crumbled peanuts, and chili flakes over the top.

Laksa is flavorful, spicy curry noodle soup from Southeast Asia known for its rich and aromatic broth made with coconut milk, herbs, and spices, delicious.

Laksa Recipe (Coconut Curry Laksa)

coconut oil (or use vegetable oil)

chilies peppers

red chilies

shallots

garlic

ginger (finely chopped)

candlenuts (or use blanched almonds, cashews,

turmeric

coriander

paprika

cumin

Salt and pepper (to taste)

chicken stock (use 6 cups for soupier)

coconut milk

brown sugar (or palm sugar)

tamarind paste

lemongrass

limes

cooked/softened rice noodles (or use egg noodles)

eggs

Toppings/Garnishes. Chopped laksa leaves

Blend

Add all of the ingredients to a blender or food processor. Process to form a paste.

Cook

Add the laksa paste to a medium pan and heat to medium-low heat. Simmer the paste 20 minutes, until it deepens to a rich red color. The oil will separate slightly. Set aside. (NOTE: You can make the paste ahead. The flavors are even better the next day.)

FOR THE LAKSA PASTE

Broth

Add the laksa broth ingredients to a large pot with the laksa paste. Bring to a boil, then simmer on very low for 30 minutes to let the flavors develop. Strain out the solids and adjust for salt and pepper.

Seafood

Add the white fish and shrimp. Simmer for 8-10 minutes, or until the fish and shrimp are cooked through.

FOR THE LAKSA BROTH

Ladle

Distribute the prepared noodles into bowls, then ladle in the laksa broth with fish and shrimp over them.

Top with soft boiled eggs, then garnish with your desired toppings and serve.
