Healthy Burger Bowls with Special Sauce

Heat a skillet over medium high heat. Add the ground beef and spices. Brown the beef, breaking it up as it cooks, until it is fully cooked through.

While the beef is browning, make the special sauce. Add all of the ingredients to a small bowl and whisk together until well combined.

Assemble your burger bowls. Start with romaine lettuce then add the toppings and cooked ground beef. Drizzle the special sauce over everything and then enjoy!

The sauce for these bowls is AMAZING! Loved how flexible this recipe was and that I could throw whatever I was feeling into the bowl. I served this with a side of sweet potato fries and it was just the perfect meal. Adding this to our weekly rotation!

This is one of our favorite recipes! We have it every other week and we make the special sauce any time we have oven fries. We have a different comb of "toppings" every time. The possibilities are endless.  So easy and super tasty.  I've made it with turkey and beef. Prefer beef, but both were delicious. This helped us survive two Whole30s at the beginning of the quarantine.

Burger in a bowl is healthier way to get the flavors of a cheeseburger but without the bread. Basically just all the topping for a burger but in a bowl form.

Cheeseburger Salad

ground beef

pepper

garlic powder (plus additional 1/8 tsp)

tsp onion powder (plus additional 1/8 tsp)

cayenne pepper

bacon

grape tomatoes

onions

pickles

shredded cheese

mayonnaise

tsp white vinegar

olive oil

tsp pepper (add more for taste if you like)

Cook the ground beef until browned,&nbsp; drain if necessary. Put the skillet with the beef back on the stove and add the seasoning.&nbsp;

To a small bowl, add the ketchup, mayonnaise, vinegar and olive oil, pepper and a pinch of cayenne. Mix well.

Drizzle a some of the dressing around the inside of the salad bowl. This will help coat the salad with the sauce.&nbsp;

Add the lettuce, pickles, onions, grape tomatoes, bacon and ground beef to the bowl and give it a good toss. Drizzle more dressing on top of the salad and serve immediately.&nbsp;

Burger Salad with Special Sauce Dressing

romaine (2 heads/470 grams)

cherry tomatoes, halved (300 grams)

pickle chips

onion

jalapeno, sliced

large avocado, sliced (150 grams)

cheese

avocado oil

yellow onoin (120 grams)

dijon mustard

salt and pepper,

any other additional toppings you

mayo*

tomato paste

pickle juice (from the pickle jar)

lemon juice

Prep all your salad ingriedients - chop the lettuce, tomatoes, onoins, avocado, jalapeño, and whatever other toppings you want to use and shred the cheese (if using)

Make the beef. Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat. Once hot, add oil and let it get hot, about 30 seconds. Add onions and salt and pepper and sauté for 4-5 minutes until soft and golden brown. Add ground beef and break it up with the back of a large spoon. Cook for about 7 minutes, adding mustard halfway through and stirring occasionally. Add salt and pepper to taste.

While the beef cooks, make the special sauce dressing. Add the mayo, tomato paste, mustard, pickles, pickle juice, garlic powder, and paprika to a glass jar and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper.

Once beef is done, assemble the salads. Divide the lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, avocado, jalapenos, cheese, and ground beef between 4 large bowls. Top with dressing and enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

plant-based yogurt

Olive oil spray

baby bella mushrooms, sliced

Quick pickle the cucumbers by thinly slicing and tossing in the cider vinegar, honey, and 1/4 teaspoon of the salt. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Create a dill yogurt sauce by whisking together the plant-based yogurt, chopped dill, onion powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of the salt. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Spray a skillet with olive oil spray and place over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms, rosemary, and 1/4 teaspoon of the salt and sauté until mushrooms are browned and tender, about 10 minutes. Set aside.

Using your hands, combine the ground turkey, oregano, garlic powder, and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Form into 4 burger patties.

Spray a skillet with olive oil spray and place over medium-high heat. Add the burgers and sear for 7 minutes on each side, or until cooked throughout.

Prepare 4 burger bowls by adding 2 cups of mixed greens to each bowl. Top each with a burger patty, an equal amount of the cooked mushrooms, and an equal amount of the pickled cucumber. Spoon a large dollop of the dill yogurt sauce over top to complete the bowl.

¼ cup sliced red onion

Add the ground beef to a large skillet on the stove over medium high heat.

Crumble and cook until the beef is browned, about 6-8 minutes.

Drain any grease from the skillet, return it to the stove over medium heat.

Add the steak seasoning, worcestershire sauce, dijon mustard, hot sauce and ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese.

Stir all of the ingredients together, then remove the skillet from the heat.

Assemble the bowls by adding 1 cup lettuce to the bottom of 4 bowls.

Divide the cooked, seasoned ground beef mixture between the bowls, then add the tomatoes, pickles, red onion, cheddar cheese and ¼ avocado to each bowl.
