Creamy Cajun Dipping Sauce

sour cream

mayonnaise

lemon juice (fresh squeezed)

creole mustard

hot sauce (such as Louisianna or Crystal)

dark brown sugar (or light brown sugar)

salt

garlic powder

onion powder

smoked paprika

cayenne pepper

Add all ingredients to a small mixing bowl and use a small whisk to mix until smooth and creamy.

Transfer the sauce to a small bowl for dipping or to an airtight container to store.

lemon juice

hot sauce (I

tsp smoked paprika ((make sure to use smoked!))

tsp each: garlic powder, onion powder, salt, oregano, red pepper

cayenne pepper (more for additional heat)

Whisk or stir together the 1/2 cup mayo, 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice and 6 dashes hot sauce until it is incorporated and smooth.

Add the 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, onion powder, salt, oregano, red pepper flakes, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Stir until it all comes together.

Serve!

Store in an airtight container, in the fridge, for up to 2 weeks.

Cajun Cream Sauce Recipe

dry white wine

Cajun seasoning

heavy whipping cream

In a large non-stick skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Add wine and cook until reduced by half, about 2 minutes.

Stir in Cajun seasoning, paprika, and oregano. Cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 30 seconds. 

Add cream and bring to a simmer. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes or until slightly thickened. Whisk in Parmesan cheese and parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, add lemon juice.

This recipe makes enough sauce for 8 ounces of dry pasta. Use your favorite pasta and toss it immediately after cooking. Add 1/4 cup of reserved pasta water to help the sauce bind better with the pasta.

Made this tonight for dinner to pour over some egg noodles and sliced andouille sausage I cooked up. I didn’t have fresh parsley, so I used dried. It came out great with a powerful punch of flavor, which I love. I used Slap Yo Mama Cajun seasoning, which did make it a tad salty, but still delicious… next time I’ll make my own Cajun seasoning to help reduce the amount of salt. Thank you for this recipe! I’m teaching myself to cook and this recipe will definitely be saved for future dishes.

I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed a recipe, but seeing that I use this one literally once I week I figured it deserved it 😃 I make a Cajun sheet pan over rice with this sauce every week because my family is OBSESSED. The sauce absolutely makes it! So good!!

Great recipe. Only advice to others is to use lemon if your sauce turns out too salty. I used a premade Cajun seasoning (oops) and that plus the salty parmesan was a bit overwhelming. Once I added lemon (and the pasta), it was waaaay more tolerable. I will make my own Cajun seasoning next time. Oh! I also doubled the recipe and used 1 cup heavy cream and 1 cup evap milk (I didn’t have enough cream). I added half a tbl of flour to thicken, and it turned out perfectly. 

It came out wonderfully my family ate all of the chicken that I put the cream sauce on. My daughter does not eat baked chicken but she cleaned her plate today.
