Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Pasta is a hearty dish that will satisfy a crowd! Spicy Andouille Sausage, and Cajun Shrimp on top of a creamy bed of noodles and fresh veggies, for a filling weeknight meal that will impress even the pickiest eaters!

Cajun Shrimp Sausage Pasta

box (10 ounces) fettucini noodles

shrimp, (peeled and deveined and tail removed)

kosher salt, (to taste)

black pepper, (to taste)

cajun seasoning

oregano

olive oil

andouille sausage

zucchini, (halved lengthwise and sliced thin)

yellow onion, (diced)

red peppers,

brown sugar

garlic, (minced)

tomatoes

chicken broth

heavy cream

parmesan

fresh chopped parsley, (optional)

Add pasta to a large pot of boiling water that has been salted. (Anywhere from 1-2 tablespoons of salt.) Cook to al dente, 8-10 minutes.

Remove pasta from water and drain.  Set aside (if you are worried about the noodles sticking together you can toss them in a little bit of oil or butter).

Pasta

In a bowl, toss shrimp with salt, pepper, and cajun seasoning and make sure it is well coated.

Heat a large skillet (12-inches) over medium-high heat and drizzle olive oil in pan.

Add shrimp and cook for about 2 minutes. Flip shrimp over and cook another minute, or until pink and firm.

Remove shrimp from pan to a plate, set aside.

Shrimp

Add the cut-up sausage to the pan you just removed the shrimp from. Cook sausage until lightly browned, about 3-4  minutes each side. Remove from pan to a plate, set aside.

In the same pan you cooked the sausage in, lower the leat to medium.

Add 3 tablespoons olive oil and then the chopped zucchini, onion, red pepper, cajun seasoning, and brown sugar.  Toss everything together to evenly coat.  Cook until the veggies are soft, about 3-5 minutes.

Add minced garlic and cook and stir until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Add the crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, and heavy cream. Bring to a simmer, stirring and scraping the pan with tongs to get up any brown bits from the bottom. Simmer for about 5 minutes.

Add in parmesan, cooked pasta, shrimp, and sausage. Stir (toss all ingredients together and continue simmering until heated through (about 2-3 minutes).

Serve in skillet and garnish with chopped parsley. (optional)

Creamy Cajun Shrimp Pasta with Sausage

shrimp,

andouille sausage, about ½ pound, sliced into rounds

Olive oil

½ medium yellow onion, thinly sliced

red bell pepper, thinly sliced

thyme

smoked paprika

cajun/creole spice mix

garlic, finely chopped (1 large or 2 small)

Worcestershire sauce

heavy cream, or ½ & ½ (I prefer heavy cream!!)

fettuccine or farfalle (bowties)

Kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper

Parmesan and chopped parsley,

Bring large pot of water to boil for pasta.  Toss shrimp with 1 - 2 tablespoons of cajun seasoning and coat well.  Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and drizzle bottom of pan with olive oil.  Add shrimp and cook for 2 minutes or so until starting to curl.  Flip shrimp over and cook another minute or two and then remove to a plate and set aside.  Drizzle pan with a little more olive oil, add sausage and brown until nicely caramelized, about 4 - 5 minutes.  Remove to plate, set aside.

Add pasta to salted boiling water and cook until al dente, a minute less than package instructions.

Lower heat to medium and add another good drizzle of olive oil to the pan, add the onion, red bell pepper, thyme, smoked paprika, 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning, brown sugar and a generous pinch of salt.  Sauté until onion and pepper have softened a bit, scraping up any browned bits that you can.  Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Add crushed tomatoes, chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce and bring to a simmer, stirring and scraping up any brown bits from bottom of pan, simmer a couple minutes.  Add cream and stir to combine, bring to a simmer.  Once simmering, add cooked pasta and andouille sausage and stir to combine and heat through, 2 - 3 minutes.  Add more chicken broth or cream if it seems dry or you'd like more sauce (I added ¼ cup of each).  Salt and pepper to taste and then lastly, add blackened shrimp and combine, or place shrimp on top of pasta.  Sprinkle with some more freshly cracked black pepper, grated Parmesan and chopped parsley.  Enjoy!

Cajun Shrimp Pasta

raw shrimp (deveined, cleaned, tail removed)

cajun seasoning (*see note below)

Add salt to pot of water and bring to a boil. Cook pasta to al dente doneness. Before draining, scoop out at least 1/2 cup of the cooking water. Drain pasta and set aside.

While the pasta is cooking, cook the shrimp and sauce. Combine shrimp with cajun seasoning and olive oil in bowl. Toss to combine.

Heat large skillet over medium high heat. Add butter and melt. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook until golden brown on each side, turning only once. You may have to cook shrimp in two batches to allow enough room. Once done cooking, transfer cooked shrimp to a clean plate and reduce heat to medium low.

Add heavy cream to pan and scrape bottoms to release any food that is stuck to the bottom. Allow cream to bubble. Reduce heat to low and stir in parmesan cheese to melt. Add cooked pasta and shrimp and stir to coat. If sauce needs to be thinned, add pasta water, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is achieved.

Creamy Cajun Shrimp Pasta

oz penne pasta

shrimp

Tbsp cajun seasoning (divided)

unsalted butter

garlic

heavy whipping cream

parmesan cheese (plus more to serve)

parsley

Cook the penne pasta in a pot of salted water until al dente according to package instructions. Drain the water and cover the pasta to keep warm.

Coat the shrimp with 1 Tbsp of the cajun seasoning. In a deep skillet, heat 1 Tbsp oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the seasoned shrimp in a single layer and saute for about 1-2 minutes per side, or until the shrimp is no longer translucent, remove from skillet and cover to keep warm.

In the same skillet, melt 2 Tbsp butter with the minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant. Add in the diced tomatoes and saute for about 2-3 minutes.

Pour in the heavy whipping cream, remaining 1 Tbsp cajun seasoning and grated parmesan cheese. Bring to a simmer then reduce to medium/low heat and continue 2-3 minutes or until the sauce thickens.

Add the shrimp and pasta back into the skillet and stir until noodles are coated in sauce and everything is heated through. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve.

An easy and yummy Cajun-inspired pasta with cream sauce and blackened shrimp with lots of bold flavors. Feel free to substitude shrimp for chicken if desire!

Blackened Shrimp Pasta

lbs raw peeled shrimp

tsp Tony Chachere’s Spice N’ Herbs Creole Seasoning

tsp vegetable oil

oz linguine pasta

tbsp butter

milk

chicken broth (+ more if needed)

garlic (minced)

tbsp all-purpose flour

Parmesan cheese (+ more for garnish)

parsley (garnish)

Pat dry defrosted shrimp to remove all access excess water.

Combine 2 tsp Tony’s Spice N’ Herbs Creole Seasoning and 2 tsp vegetable oil in a small bowl. Mix well.

Coat shrimp evenly with seasoning and oil.

Heat skillet or cast iron skillet on high with a few drops of vegetable oil.

Once skillet is heated, pan fry shrimp for ~2 minutes on one side, then flip shrimp and cook for another ~2 minutes on the other side. Do not overlap or overcrowd skillet. Cook in two batches if needed. (See Note 2)

Once shrimp is cooked, remove shrimp from heat and set aside.

Blackened Shrimp

Fill a large pot with water and bring to boil. Add linguine to water and cook based on suggested time on the package. Remove promptly and toss in olive oil to prevent pasta from sticking together.

Add butter and minced garlic to a skillet (see Note 3). Once butter is melted and garlic is fragrant (do not brown or burn garlic), add flour.

Stir to combine, then add milk, chicken broth and 1 ½ tsp of Tony’s Spice N’ Herbs Creole Seasoning. Stir and bring to boil. Optional: add more chicken broth if sauce is too thick.

Add Parmesan cheese and mix well. Remove from heat.

Pasta + Sauce

Toss pasta with sauce, and top pasta + sauce with blackened shrimp.

Garnish with chopped parsley and more parmesan cheese

Serve and enjoy!

Garlic Shrimp Pasta Recipe

oz (225 grams) linguine pasta

(450 grams) shrimp

In a medium-sized saucepan, boil water and salt it. Add your pasta, and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. When the pasta is cooked, reserve 1 cup of the pasta water and drain the pasta.

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter, and add olive oil. Cook the shrimp for a minute, then season with salt, pepper, and Old Bay Seasoning or paprika if using.

Continue to cook the shrimp until it's pink. Do this in batches if you're worried that you may overcook the shrimp. Remove the shrimp onto a plate and set aside.

In the same pan, melt butter and add garlic, cook for 30 seconds or until it's fragrant. Add the heavy cream, and with the spatula deglaze the pan.

Add parmesan, let it melt then loosen the sauce with reserved pasta water and allow to simmer for a minute. Taste the sauce and see if more salt and pepper is needed.

Toss the pasta with the sauce until it's well coated. Add the shrimp back in to reheat it gently, garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve.

Creamy Garlic Butter Shrimp Pasta

Everyone will love Cajun shrimp pasta! It's an impressive dinner idea that's irresistibly seasoned and easy to make.

celery

Start the pasta

Boil the pasta in salted water until al dente.

Prep the veggies

Finely mince the onion, mince the pepper, and finely chop the celery and place it on a bowl. Mince the garlic and place it in a separate bowl. 

Sauté the shrimp

Meanwhile, pat the shrimp dry. In a medium bowl, mix the shrimp with 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, the Cajun seasoning, garlic powder and onion powder. In your largest skillet (cast iron or stainless preferred), heat the olive oil on medium high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until just opaque and cooked through, turning them with tongs. Once cooked, remove to a bowl, cover, and set aside. Leave the browned bits in the skillet.

Sauté the veggies

In the same skillet that you cooked the shrimp, melt 2 tablespoons of the butter over medium heat and add bell pepper, onion and celery. Cook for about 3 minutes until the veggies start to become tender. Reduce to medium low heat and add the garlic and cook 2 to 3 minutes more until fragrant and garlic just starts to turn golden. Remove from heat before garlic browns. Add the butter and let it melt while you get the pasta.

Mix with the pasta and sauce

When the pasta is ready, drain it. To the pan with the veggies, add the pasta, 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, the grated Parmesan cheese, and the cream or milk. Toss until fully combined, then add the shrimp. If desired, spritz with squirts from a lemon wedge. Taste and add additional seasoning as necessary. Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.

Cook the linguine according to package directions, and save one cup of the cooking water.   Drain and return the pasta to the pot.  Add a drizzle of olive oil to prevent it from sticking.

Season the shrimp with salt, pepper, and Cajun seasoning

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil, and cook shrimp just until pink, about 2 minutes.  Remove from the pan and transfer to a plate.

Using the same saucepan, melt the butter and whisk in the flour.  Cook it until slightly golden.

Whisk in the white wine and the heavy cream. Keep whisking to prevent lumps from forming, and cook for about a minute.

Whisk in the reserved pasta water and Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper

At this time, mix in the linguine

Return the cooked shrimp to the pan and add the chopped parsley.  Mix everything together and check the seasoning for salt.
