An easy and big on flavor black beans recipe

Mostly From Scratch Amazing Black Beans

petite diced tomatoes (14 oz)

garlic

olive oil

15 oz cans of black beans

water

tbsp of fresh chopped cilantro

paprika

cumin

oregano

salt

tomato paste

tbsp kosher salt

In a medium saute pan over medium heat, add your olive oil, red pepper and garlic and saute until they begin to soften about 5 minutes.

Now add your canned black beans, water, fresh cilantro, tomatoes, tomato paste and all of the spices and mix well.

Bring to a simmer

Once it comes to a simmer, turn your heat to  low and cover to simmer for about 20 minutes until the tomatoes begin to soften a bit and the flavors come together

Remove from stove and taste for seasoning.

Add salt to taste.

Serve over rice or alongside meat and enjoy!

This quick and easy recipe for Black Beans and Rice is delicious! Made with sofrito, canned black beans and long-grain rice.

Black Beans and Rice

sofrito (I keep this in my freezer)

black beans

long grain rice (I like Carolina)

Sazon

large vegetable or chicken bouillon cube (such as Maggi)

Heat a medium heavy pot with a tight fitted lid over medium heat and add the oil.

Add the sofrito and cook until it melts and becomes fragrant, stirring 3 to 4 minutes.

Add the rinsed beans and rice and mix well.

Add the water, sazon,  bouillon and salt, stir and let it cook, boiling over medium heat until the liquid is almost all absorbed and just skims the top of the rice.

Quickly cover the lid and cook low heat 15 minutes.

Remove from heat and let it sit 5 to 8 minutes more, without lifting the lid so the steam finishes the rice.

Fluff with a fork and enjoy.

How to Cook Canned Black Beans on the Stove

Tbs butter

bacon

onion

15 oz can unseasoned black beans. Drained

garlic powder

tsp taco seasoning

white sugar

Salt and Pepper to taste

In a medium sized saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until just soft.

Place the small pieces of bacon into the butter and cook until softened.  Add the chopped onion and continue cooking until the onion is soft.

Add the drained beans all at once followed by the water.

Add the garlic powder, taco seasoning and sugar.

Heat over medium heat until the beans are bubbly and fragrant.

Taste and add salt and pepper to taste

Garnish as you please with jalapeno, cilantro or serve beans with rice, chicken, corn or in a burrito, taco, over a salad, etc

How to cook Canned Black Beans

Irresistibly crisp, savory, 4-ingredient black bean burgers with oats, salsa, &amp; grated carrot! Either pan-fry them on the stove or bake them in the oven. Gluten-free, soy-free, &amp; no egg needed.

Vegan Black Bean Veggie Burgers

oats

black beans (drained & rinsed)

salsa ((or ketchup, or BBQ sauce))

carrot

burger buns

lettuce

Roma tomatoes (sliced)

sprouts

ketchup & mustard (to taste)

In a food processor, pulse rolled oats (~10 times) until chopped, but not into flour.

Add remaining ingredients and pulse together 6-7 times, or blend until integrated. (It doesn’t need to be smooth—you want some chunks.)

Portion mixture into balls and then form into ½-inch thick patties. (I used a heaping ice cream scoop to portion the mixture into 6 patties.)

Stovetop Method: Heat a pan over medium-high heat and spray with cooking spray. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, until browned &amp; crisp around the edges, but tender in the middle. (You can’t undercook these vegan patties, so just cook until as crisp as you like them.)

Oven-Baked Method: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment &amp; spray with cooking spray. Add patties and bake for 7 minutes, flip, and then bake another 7-8 minutes until browned and crispy.

Serve patty on a burger bun with your favorite toppings, over salad greens, or however you like!

Yields 6 veggie burger patties.

These are seriously the BEST vegan black bean burgers I’ve ever eaten—and I’m not usually a huge fan of veggie burgers! They’re amazingly savory & flavorful, and they don’t fall apart like most homemade bean burgers do. (Even though they’re gluten-free & egg-free!)

I’ll walk you through how to make black bean burgers with only 4 ingredients: canned black beans (or any beans), rolled oats, salsa, & grated carrot (plus some salt). You can pan-cook them on the stovetop or bake them in the oven. Either way, you’ll end up with tender-yet-sturdy vegan burger patties that are perfect for enjoying on a bun!

Whether you’re vegan or just looking for plant-based burger options, this is a great DIY veggie burger to try. You get to choose the type of beans, you don’t need an egg as a binder (unlike many other recipes), and they’re gluten-free since they’re made with oats (unlike many store-bought options).

But store-bought veggie burgers can ALSO be nutritious & convenient meal options, even though some contain more processed ingredients. We don’t HAVE to make homemade veggie burgers from scratch to be “healthy”—especially if choosing a premade option can reduce our stress.
